It looks like she’s been busy bunstructing newspaper? Her resting position looks relaxed. The left leg isnt straight, I dont know if it’s always crooked or if it just happened to be like that when your dad took the picture? Anyway, an unhappy rabbit wouldnt rest in that position. From what I can see, her weight seems healthy.
It could be that she…[Read more]

Hi there! My 9-year-old, blind, senile rabbit Jumping Jack is losing her mind, and making me lose my mind
Jumping Jack can’t get out of her pen to play. Not because we’re doing something wrong. But as I said earlier, she’s blind, so she doesn’t like to leave her pen. She just sits there, eats hay, plays with her toys, and sleeps. If I’m playing…[Read more]

I created a new area for the boys, and split in half. Put down some foam mats and all their stuff at the barrier. Food, water and new cat scratching pads since they both love to chew on those. I used my large walk in closet. I’m about to finish the first session with them, and my initial thought is that it’s going to be helpful. Keeping it to…[Read more]

I think it will be fine if it is just temporary. Hopefully you can at least get Bonnie and Cooper back together. Do you think Bonnie and Cooper understand that Bun Jovi is gone? Perhaps Myra is still grieving and her energy is different. Maybe she isn’t open to having a relationship with another bunny… let alone two.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Now my bunny has bloat… in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
Have you ever felt bloated? When a human has a lot of gas build up, they may feel uncomfortable bending over, etc. I imagine it would be the same for a bunny. If his tummy is round and distended a bit, it may be uncomfortable for him to reach down there to clean himself. As Bam said, sticky poop is a symptom of a gut imbalance. I would suggest…[Read more]

I dont think this is his new normal. He could still be recovering. It can take quite a while for the gut microbiota to “repair” itself after a bout of stasis. It’s great that he seems to like hay! Hay is the best food for restoring (or establishing, in baby buns) a healthy, robust and diverse gut microbiota. There are rabbit probiotics that are…[Read more]

That’s a good idea, I do think he would respond well to that. Out of my 3, Ruby I think would really enjoy some training. When I have more time, lol.
Meanwhile, I’m really glad you brought that up about the zoo training. I had a thought last night and already forgot by morning but it’s similar. I saw one Youtube person who does a lot of bonding,…[Read more]

I have a two year old english lop who has been difficult to bond in the past. He is fixed and I tried to match him with another fixed male in the past and it ended terribly. After moths of trying they continuously fought and I ended the attempt after a bunny tornado. I spend most of my days with Winston and he is with my dog and family often as…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic Is his eye normal? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 11 months ago
I guess I wouldn’t be too worried then. Without other symptoms, it doesn’t seem to warrant immediate vet attention. You can always bring it up next time you have to be there.

Hi and thank you for the answers!
Yes, you’re right – it is some gas versus true bloat.
The vet has him on a hay only diet as I expected. Luckily, he is chowing down on his hay. He has a great appetite and his poops are normal. A lot of them and a good size.
His belly still looks/feels “off” to me as in it feels really rounded. Like a pot…[Read more]

It is pretty small, but temporarily giving them space near each other and since they will rotate having time out to exercise, seems like it could work. I know with mine, I’d worry about them having too much pent up energy and being counter productive, but I think you will be able to sense if it starts to get to that point.

In any case, that’s still in the “safe” zone. If you keep a fan on and pointed at the buns they will be more comfortable throughout the temp fluctuations, and if it gets over 80 F you can give them a frozen water bottle or tile to lay on. In the summer I keep a fan pointed at one area of my buns’ pens and they often lay right in front of it. Myra…[Read more]

I did some measuring and if I reduce their pens to 2 ft x 6 ft (which seems so small to me lol) I can fit them all in the living room pretty easily. So maybe I’ll give that a go?
All of their heels have gotten calluses from all the bonding sessions on hard flooring so I can also add extra soft flooring in there to help their feet heal up.

My dad keeps the house 73°f-76°f and yells at my mom if it’s 80 and she turns the AC on in the kitchen and it was 76-79 in my room alone (I don’t remember the exact temperature, it was above 75 I know that)

that’s tricky. I spoke to a friend at the rescue I used to volunteer at about mine and she suggested something that is more commonly used in dogs and other animals (such as in zoos when they need to introduce a new animal into a group). They will do training sessions with the animals in the same area (starting out far away and then moving closer…[Read more]

Possibly. It’s tough because the first bite yesterday was immediate, and they didn’t lay close or seem better until 5.5 hours. I don’t want to keep going once they are good because in the past Maxwell got bitey again after too long, and made it harder to end on a good note. Basically I try and wait until they seem OK, sometimes 2 hours, sometimes…[Read more]
