Ok so i have 2 male brother bunnies living together currently and have been together since birth, right now as of tomorrow they are at 11 weeks old, both unfixed and have found a vet that will neuter them soon as their testes drop, getting checked next friday if dropped yet. They are so great together and havent witnessed any bullying or fighting.…[Read more]

Well it’s been over 2 weeks and I haven’t worked with them at all. Combo of being busy with work and just not being motivated to work with them. But simultaneously I realize the current situation (no one is really gettting enough exercise) isn’t good long term!

I’ve reached back out to the bonders to see when their availability is, it seems like…[Read more]

Are Maxwell and Ruby currently still bonded? Sorry I can’t remember if you had to separate them or not.

It does sound like separating them at 3 days was probably a good move. Perhaps you just bumped up to marathoning a bit too soon?

I think continuing to work with the pairs would be a good strategy, but just keep the sessions shorter again to…[Read more]

He does look young, it looks like he hasn’t quite grown into his ears yet. But junior rabbit pellets should be stopped at around 5-7 months anyway, and for big breeds its important they dont grow too fast (same with big breed dogs). So I think adult pellets plus hay should be good for him.

It’s great that he has such a lot of energy and…[Read more]

Very hard to tell from these pictures. Does he have Himalayan/Californian coloring? Or is he light gray broken? I’m see what looks like gray spots on his side, but it’s hard to tell in the picture.

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>Thanks @lbj10! She was scratching her ears a bit, but it may be just itchy from molt… not excessive scratching, I  may even just be more focused on it.</p>

The cage sounds too small even in inches, as one bunny would be extremely limited, bored and unhappy. Mine run around various times of the day and binky, zoom, etc and they would have no room to be happy and run around in a cage that small. Please let them out several hours per day if that is the best option possible, and if you get 2, you can get…[Read more]

Most rabbits are mixed breeds. He has the Himalayan genotype it looks like based on the fur pattern (will likely darken at the ears and nose when colder. True Himalayan rabbits have a very lanky look and narrow face, which yours does not.

Ear size does suggest he’ll get bigger, but I think unlikely to be continental or giant– just doesn’t have…[Read more]

    Hey everyone,

So a little over a week ago my sister was out for a walk (in historic district pretty populated) and found an abandoned rabbit. Obviously she called me since I have rabbits. I brought him home and took him to the vet a few days later. He is perfectly healthy! But they said they couldn’t tell his breed or age but most likely he was…[Read more]

Yes, dandruff isn’t unusual when they are molting. The fur can fall out in chunks and it takes dead skin with it.

Thanks Bam! I really appreciate how quickly you put my worries to rest. She is molting a bit, and unlike Dorian her ears are fluffy and shedding so I will go with dandruff then. Especially since no yellow scabs like you mentioned for mites.

Yes, they are just too cute 🥰

Rabbits can get “dandruff”, esp when they molt. You can help by brushing the skin flakes off with a soft baby brush -if needed. The skin flakes you see in cx with fur mites are a) ample b) bigger c) come from white/yellow scabs that are very firmly attached to the skin. The bun will react with pain if you try to…[Read more]

I was doing a little defluffing of Miu and noticed a few scales on her ears, photo makes it look less as I suspect a grooming happens while I looked for my phone.  I suspect it’s just dandruff,  but since Dorian has none I wanted to check to be safe.

Also just spam photo since sometimes they are just too cute

The workings of the bunny GI system are extremely complex and fine-tuned. Your post reminded me of this great lecture from the House Rabbit Society:

    https://youtu.be/uriYlqGHaiY

It doesnt explain why exactly your bun is prone to gas, but it makes it quite clear just how immensely complicated the rabbit GI system is and how its pretty much…[Read more]

Well, there were definitely scuffles that might have been a fight if I wasn’t there 🙂  I ended up calling it off after 3 days. They seemed to start going downhill again, and the last night they woke me up scuffling and then I scared them and snoopy jumped about 5 feet so was pretty scared lol. I also noticed Snoopy had a big bald spot above his…[Read more]

I thought about that (maybe it’s an old scratch), he lived in a very small wire cage for a year-ish before I got him so something could’ve happened then. I am going to keep a close eye on it & make sure it doesn’t get worse!
