I’m glad things turned out well for you and Gouda. Thank you for sharing! Sadly, the facial paralysis will be more or less permanent. Sometimes you will see some improvement from what it initially was, but it never goes back 100%. The interesting thing is that particular nerve only controls the external stuff. The tongue, etc. are completely…[Read more]

It is very possible every previous course of Baytril has been too short. 2 weeks is what I consider the absolute minimum course for URI antibiotics, so considering he has never had it consecutively longer than that, I would suspect it has always been cut short before the entire infection was wiped out, so it simply takes some time to re-multiply…[Read more]

Thank you very much for sharing this experience, and in such detail! You and Gouda have been on quite a journey. This will without a doubt be useful for many readers of these forums. Lops are prone to ear infections, and lops are very popular, so ear infection awareness is much needed.
I’m very happy to hear that Gouda is doing so much better now…[Read more]

Hey all,
I wanted to share my experience with my lop bunny, Gouda, and the progression of her ear bases abscesses.
Back in March of this year, I noticed Gouda sneeze a bit more than I’ve noticed in the past. It was once every few days for a couple weeks, but then suddenly stopped. I thought nothing of it since she was eating, drinking, and a…[Read more]

So i have a bun that has mild snuffles if you will. Reason I say mild is because a) we had another bunny that had true snuffles – sneezing, white discharge and b) he has just wet nose with the fir matted underneath and then he gets a course of baytril and it goes away, then comes back a few months later, another course of baytril and goes away. He…[Read more]

Is he with a mustache like in your photo?
then highly likely it’s megacolon. One of mine has that also has trouble keeping weight on. It’s a genetic thing with that breed – the “Charlie’s” with the mistake or Rex with the black around the eyes.
best place to get info is on the Facebook group “Charlie rabbits with megacolon or cowpile syndrome”…[Read more]

The loops are good, the sticks are even higher in fiber. Buns seem to like them a lot (mine do). Bit pricey though if they’re not given as treats only.

Yeah, I’m keeping an eye on hurricane Lee too, I’m hoping that it doesn’t hit anyone and yay! I hope they like each other, best of luck!

Ugh, he refuses timothy cubes. I even tried “withholding” a little but he’d rather starve than touch cube or straight hay. Everyday I even dump his hay over to his friends to give him fresh ones but nope…
I have Loops coming in; someone told me a medical bun lived solely on Loops for a few months.
I’ll check out the Salad.

Many rabbits enjoy laying on or near AC vents. I think it’s unlikely to cause anything respiratory.
In terms of attempting to treat your rabbit at home, that is not recommended. Self-diagnosing and treating at home can potentially worsen the condition and limit what a medical professional can do to help when you actually see one. If your rabbit…[Read more]

UPDATE: Sage is home and boing better… Dr could not tell exactly what the cause was… There is no puncture wound so she was not bit… She thought maybe it’s an abscess tooth, but dr feels she was to young for that… So she settled on, Hay… She thinks maybe Sage got poked in her mouth by a piece of hay… So I will take her off the Timothy hay, and put…[Read more]

We definitely had a false fall and then it got hot again! Had to turn the AC’s back on today, but it’s supposed to cool off again next week. Keeping an eye on hurricane that could hit New England though… but it’s still far out so hopefully it doesn’t hit us.
Thanks BunnyLass! I’ve been very happy about it.
On Sunday we are going to take Myra…[Read more]

I forgot about “white rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit”! It’s been 9o°f+ here too, my room alone got as high as 82°f and that’s with the ac and fan, but now it’s cooling off some. I’m glad Bonnie is letting you pet her more @DanaNM ! Sorry I didn’t reply to you all separately, I just felt it better to reply like this. I was also gonna vent a…[Read more]

You should go to a vet. Please refrain from self-diagnosing and self-medicating at home, as this can make things worse and also could then limit what a professional can actually do to help.

It’s really hard to know as we can’t see it and aren’t vets. This could be a dental abscess which needs to be treated by a vet.
