So I gave him more alfalfa (was building up to unlimited), sprinkled/mixed in soft orchard. He picks out all the alfalfa, pushes all the orchard away, and then ignores his CC / mashed pellets (which includes some junior pellets). He will eat the mush fine but reluctantly… hoping for more alfalfa and when he can’t hold out, then eats it. I even…[Read more]

Drinking a lot and peeing all over the place is not normal. Together with difficulty keeping weight on I’d say there’s something going on. You need a vet to figure out what. Polydipsia and polyuria (drinking and peeing lots) can be symptoms of many different things. E cuniculi can affect the kidneys (e cuniculi is more known as the cause of head…[Read more]

My bunny boy Turkey is a rescue mini rex that I’ve had for about a year. He gets 1/5 a cup of science selective grain free pellets, unlimited Timothy hay, fresh herbs or romaine (I mix it up throughout the week). All my others bunnies seem to have more of an issue with keeping weight off, not putting it on. He has always had quite a pudgy tummy,…[Read more]

Thanks for the responses, both of you.
I was planning to try the bath tub when I do start re-bonding them. I do have a friend who lives just five minutes down the road so I could ask him if I could use his place. He has a cat though but maybe we could leave the cat closed in one room and they could have their bonding sessions in another if he…[Read more]

Not sure exactly the kind I have, I just searched for “rubber broom” and a lot of options came up. For poops I think a regular hand broom works a bit better, but the rubber broom is great for hay.
Also as an aside, I have a shark vacuum and it’s much quieter and lighter than other vacuums I’ve used! Just something to consider 🙂

Thanks again! I’m mostly having trouble with hay and poop but I feel like fur will be an issue soon with molt coming right around the corner (so to speak). What kind of rubber brushes do you use?

You do need to have a very neutral space, especially with a challenging bond. Some ideas are:
-the bathtub/ bathroom (after wiping it down with a 10% vinegar solution), or laundry room.
-create a neutral area by putting down a new tarp, set up a new pen, and add some blankets around the sides so they can’t see where they are. It will still smell…[Read more]

I think that’s wise. I’ve heard of buns becoming more selective about which hay stalks they want (some start preferring the crunchy ones, others want the soft ones) with molar spurs.

My senior bun LOVED Emeraid recover food (the Herbivore Sustain version) when he was nearing the end of his life. I’m certain that it gave us at least 5 more months with him as he had stopped eating hay due to advanced arthritis. He hated critical care, so if you bun is not super into pellet mush or CC, you could try Emeraid.

Yes I discovered the wonders of the rubber broom for carpets and rugs recently and it’s a game changer for hay and hair! There are hand-held ones and full-sized push broom versions.

Got mama bear (amazon) newborn diapers and they work! May need to cut for legs/hips. I did not turn them backwards like what some say online. That didn’t work or I didn’t know what I was doing…Took a while to figure out…
In the middle of the day (not normal active time), he ran a few laps and when playtime over, gobbled down some food.…[Read more]

Seeds have lots of calories, plus some essential fatty acids that are beneficial for the brain as well as the rest of the body. Fingers so very crossed!! 🤞

I think you’ve covered most of what I would’ve suggested. Perhaps try small amounts of sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds or flaked almonds. I gave my longterm poorly bun some grated carrot daily, which he liked a lot (he couldn’t chew very well).
