Yes, that should be correct.
I calculated it like this:
Normal dose for a dog is 0.045 mg meloxicam per lb. That means a 10 lb dog needs 0.45 mg meloxicam. The 10 lb mark on the syringe means 0.45 mg meloxicam.
O.3 ml of a 1.5 mg solution (the dose you want) contains 0.3 ×1.5 mg = 0.45 mg
(I find the dog dosage syringe annoying, but ot’s of…[Read more]

Anyone know the lb to ml conversion of metacam/meloxidyl (1.5 mg strength) to use the syringe? Last time I used regular syringe before I got med leaking out.
I’m looking for .3 mL. Is that 10 lbs?

Piriton (chlorphenamine) is the type of antihistamine that has drowsiness as a side effect. It would’nt make the other bun lethargic though, although if one bun is drowsy the other bun could perhaps become less active as well, since bonded buns often “mirror” each other.

Thanks for the replies. I went back to the vet today and they took a nasal swab so should hopefully get an answer soon. He suspected Pasturella so should be able to treat soon either way.
I’m in the the UK. Hay seems ok but I changed batch anyway. The antihistamine was Piriton.

I agree that 1 week isn’t long enough. It’s either something contagious or something environmental. What antihistamine are you using? I found Benedryl tends to make them sleepy.

Yes, I think it’s much more readily available now than it was in the past. And some good vacuuming after it is installed probably isn’t a bad idea either.

Thanks for responding! I called Spud’s veterinarian, and he said that the fuzz that comes along with getting new carpeting is a bigger hazard than off-gassing. So, if we vacuum frequently we should be okay. Still, we’re going to do what you suggested and look into low VOC carpeting–just to be safe. I think some places even have low VOC pad…[Read more]

took him to the vet and they said it doesn’t look like the nerve is damaged and to let him heal, his other tooth is going to break off too so he will have to get surgery to trim his bottom incisors. she said to just let him eat and drink regular foods as since the nerve isn’t damaged he shouldn’t feel any pain! thank you!!

How long has their total course of antibiotics been? 1 week is very short, as respiratory infections can take a long course of antibiotics to kick (with 2 weeks being the absolute minimum, it’s not uncommon for longer to be needed), or a different antibiotic.
Dental issues (esp with tooth roots) are also a possibility, but the fact that it’s both…[Read more]

A couple of weeks ago we took my 8-year-old lion head to the vet for a checkup. He’s starting to get an eye infection, so she gave us ciprofloxacin eye drops. He’s prone to eye infections and I gave him eye drops last year, but a different kind. About 20 minutes after giving him his second dose he looked a little off. For about 9 hours he sat in…[Read more]

If he’s unable to eat his hay you should take him to the vet. They can give him pain meds and check to see if he has any other injuries. If he isn’t eating hay he may not drink much water. Is it offered from a bowl or bottle? A bottle might be painful to use.
Keep offering him pellet mash to make sure he’s eating enough. I would not give banana…[Read more]

Hello
I’m hoping for some advice please.
I have two house rabbits, aged around 4.5 years. Both had myxomatosis a couple of years back and lost part of their noses as a result but their health is generally good
Around three weeks ago both started some mild snuffling. One sneezed quite frequently and repetitively. Blocked nose symptoms really.…[Read more]

@Dana, the run is ready-made. They are excellent runs, I have 2 adjoining ones at home and 1 at my mum’s. It’s a German brand called Kerbl. They’re not mink proof (obviously) but for daytime use they’re perfect. My dream is getting a set of connective rabbit tunnels so I could connect the veranda and the runs safely!
