Here’s a few more pics of himself himself.  He discovered snow on the deck and loved it.  And another of the size disparity of this Mutt and Jeff coupling.  And finally, when baby boy gets sleepy, he sacks ALL the way out.

I’m sorry for the crappy pics, but my phone is old, like me.

    Hi

It does sound similar to what we went through with Podge. I was fortunate that his bunny gf Gina was a very dedicated nurse and did a lot in terms of comforting Podge and helping keep him clean. It was certainly less stressful for Podge to be cleaned and groomed by another bunny as after his first stroke, he became wary of humans, whereas…[Read more]

Oh 12! <3  I would love to see a pic of him if you care to share one.

What you are describing has come up on the forum before and Ive seen accounts of it reported by owners elsewhere on the internet.  One of my own rabbits started displaying hormonal behaviours around age 6. (Ages 5-7 seems to be common). He had been desexed since he was 9 m…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic Probiotic for bunnies in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago

Ive used one that’s just a powder I sprinkled over the salad greens. Protexin is one Ive seen offered for rabbits.  Benebac is like a gel and normally palatable for rabbits.

It not known if most of the probiotics even survive the acidity of the rabbits stomach, let along make their way to the cecum. But they possibly do help in bringing the…[Read more]

It sounds like she needs a stronger pain med or higher dose. What did they prescribe for her?

I wonder if some anti-seizure medication could help her settle also.

If this is too pricey for your current budget, many vets will try to treat empirically with antibiotics and pain meds.

I wanted to echo this point that Bam made. This is so often the…[Read more]

Yes, this can one of the issues that crop up during bonding. I usually try remove the item that is causing territorial behaviour but I suppose that is hard for you given its the cage! Does the cage have a litter box in it?  That can often be a triggering item so you could remove that while the other rabbit has cage-free time to see if the caged…[Read more]

I agree with all that Dana has written.

A middle ear infection can cause seizures. The balance organs are located within the ear. E cuniculi, which is cause by a microscopic parasite that the bun can have been born with, can also cause seizures.

For an ear infection, antibiotics is what you do. For e cuniculi, you give an anti parasitic med…[Read more]

    Ike lol.

Hazel, it was 2 buns and one dog I lost. A dog and bun in one horrible week in May. This May is 100% going to be happier one. (I declare it – let it be so 😉 )

Sounds like you’ve had some ups and downs also. That’s sad ferrets decline so quickly. It doesnt feel like you’ve had Bubbles that long. Or Mosby for that matter. Mosby must…[Read more]

    Hi Dave

I actually gave a course of this to my 9 year old rabbit in February. He has had ongoing nasal issue but I actually had him in for suspected bladder problem so we had that med to try address both issues. It’s interesting that both are mentioned in the medirabbit excerpt that @Wick posted.

He did develop some gut trouble concurrrently (i…[Read more]

As far as I know there are only two types of probiotics that have been shown useful for rabbits. The best tested one is brewer’s yeast (saccaromyces cerevisiae), the other one is enterococcus faecium.

    E. faecium is the most prevalent gut bacteria of healthy rabbits.

So if you are looking at probiotics for a bunny, they should contain one of t…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic I think my unspayed doe is nesting! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 5 months ago

    Hi Ashley

I would leave the nest for now. When she loses interest in it for a few days, then you could probably clear it away. If she is actually expecting, the nest need to be intact. If you think it’s in an unsuitable place, you could move it into something like a large shoe box.  Typically a rabbit will build the nest about 24hrs before they…[Read more]

You might be having trouble attaching a photo if it is too big. It would need to be 512kb or less.  With photos on my phone, I find if I take a screenshot of the photo, then I edit and crop that screenshot and save to album, its much smaller file size. You might have to crop a few time if the site still doesnt accept the photo.

    Do you find she…[Read more]

I just wanted to add – Ikea has some mini drawers made of unvarnished birch. I wonder if a similar toy could be fashioned out of those? Or perhaps you could find mini drawers/cubes elsewhere in a craft type store?

    Like these?

    Hi Cynthy

From my own search just now, it appears some pet suppliers mostly based in Europe listed this toy. The manufacturers appear to be Karlie. Karlie-Flamingo based in Germany. I did see this that suggested the company had some changes back in 2017. So perhaps there were limited amount of that toy made and distributed to sellers. Or it has…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Treats for babies? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 5 months ago

Hi and congrats on your new bunny!

The reason why you’re not supposed to give baby rabbits treats, is that their microbial gut flora isn’t fully developped. That means they have sensitive stomachs. Especially sugary food can cause gut upset. Introduction of new food such as fresh greens should be done slowly and gradually and the HRS recommends…[Read more]

Hello fellow bunny lovers! I’m searching for a valid store/site where I can purchase a toy saw advertised on YouTube & other. I’ve seen it listed under two different names: Brain Train Cube Toy & Karlie Brain Cube. When researched under ‘Karlie Brain Cube,’ found listed on miscota.com for about $15.00. However, upon entering (my) informa…[Read more]

I have two bunnies who are sisters from the same litter. They are spayed and have been best friends all their lives.

The dominant bunny got sick recently. When she got back from the vet, her sister attacked her. I don’t know if it was because the sister wanted to become dominant or because the sick bunny smelled differently because of the v…[Read more]

You can try petting her to calm her down, or if Theo responds to her and backs off, I would let it play out. If she grunts and he then backs off, she will learn to trust him. If he approaches and starts trying to mount and she is acting scared, you can try repositioning him so they are smooshed together side by side and then petting them both. I’m…[Read more]
