Thank you for saving her and welcome! Cookies is an adorable name, she looks a lot like my Cooper! She doesn’t look like a rex to me, likely she’s a mix. Rex buns have very short plush fur, it feels like velvet.
I recommend checking out the sections in the rabbit info section: https://binkybunny.com/house-rabbit-information/
There are tips on…[Read more]

Rabbits do love to be up at night! And of course it wasn’t the dog’s fault, it was just being a dog, probably also a bit confused by being in a new unfamiliar place (I feel sad for the dog too). I had a dog when I got my first rabbit (stray rabbit). It took some time and patience to get my dog to understand that the rabbit was not a toy – even…[Read more]

Thank you for saving this bunny!
She is truly adorable! I can’t say what breed she is, but she is most likely a mix. She looks young, but not a baby. How much would you estimate that she weighs? Rabbits that have been living feral tend to be a lot skinnier than house rabbits, due to skinny food (grass, mainly) and lots of “exercise”.
It seems…[Read more]

Hello! I’m a first-time rabbit caretaker, and this is my first time posting on the forum.
So my story is that my family started noticing rabbits (and some quite obviously domestic rabbits) in our suburban neighborhood when there haven’t ever been any before, but they were also disappearing shortly after we’d see them a few times. (We think they…[Read more]

Thank you, this community was so very welcoming and gives such great advice. I was hoping to update that original post once everyone finished their panacur, but of course that will never happen now…
The dog is currently in the process of being re-homed. My roommates feel terrible since I was hesitant to have a dog in the house in the first…[Read more]

Oh, I totally forgot to add, but my roommates are rehoming the dog. They feel just as heartbroken as me over the situation and truly never thought she would be a danger to them, since she never went anywhere near them… I don’t have any hate in my heart for the dog, she was just doing what a dog with a high prey drive does, but I told them that I…[Read more]

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, that is a complete tragedy.
I don’t think you should feel guilty about considering rescuing again. You could try fostering because then it may feel less like you are “replacing”, even though even if you rescued again it still wouldnt be “replacing”. You can also look into volunteering at a rescue, that helped me a lot…[Read more]

Thank you so much for that link, irs been super helpful!
she had her surgery Wednesday & came home yesterday. They removed massive rhinoliths from both sides of her nose. The wound is no where near as gruesome as I was expecting, so I hope it is a quick & easy recovery & that this hopefully cures her chronic snuffles going forward!

I’m very sorry this happened to your buns. It is a tragedy. I remember your posts about Turkey and his unexplained weightloss. You clearly loved your buns very much.
Generally I’d say adopting a rescue bun shouldn’t be seen as replacing a lost rabbit – loved ones are unique and can’t ever be replaced. Your current living situation might not be…[Read more]

I posted on here, not that long ago, about a health concern with one of my 4 buns. They were all out on panacur and seemed to be improving, so thank you to those who thought it could be a different type of EC than I originally thought.
But tonight I got home from work and found out that my roommate’s dog, who they just adopted, broke out of their…[Read more]

Anyone can have a reaction to any antibiotic. This includes rabbits. You just don’t know until it happens. If that would causes a reaction, then I would suggest trying a different drop.

My buns have never used it.
In case it helps… I, human, have had horrific neuro reactions to cipro (wasn’t used for eye). I also know many humans who have bad reactions (also wasn’t used for eye). For eyes, my buns have used Tobramycin, Olfloxacin, and a mix that includes Neomycin.

Bam replied to the topic Metacam / meloxidyl in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 4 months ago
Yes, that should be correct.
I calculated it like this:
Normal dose for a dog is 0.045 mg meloxicam per lb. That means a 10 lb dog needs 0.45 mg meloxicam. The 10 lb mark on the syringe means 0.45 mg meloxicam.
O.3 ml of a 1.5 mg solution (the dose you want) contains 0.3 ×1.5 mg = 0.45 mg
(I find the dog dosage syringe annoying, but ot’s of…[Read more]

Anyone know the lb to ml conversion of metacam/meloxidyl (1.5 mg strength) to use the syringe? Last time I used regular syringe before I got med leaking out.
I’m looking for .3 mL. Is that 10 lbs?

Bam replied to the topic Allergies or Infection in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 4 months ago
Piriton (chlorphenamine) is the type of antihistamine that has drowsiness as a side effect. It would’nt make the other bun lethargic though, although if one bun is drowsy the other bun could perhaps become less active as well, since bonded buns often “mirror” each other.

Thanks for the replies. I went back to the vet today and they took a nasal swab so should hopefully get an answer soon. He suspected Pasturella so should be able to treat soon either way.
I’m in the the UK. Hay seems ok but I changed batch anyway. The antihistamine was Piriton.
