Bam replied to the topic rabbit hemorrhagic disease in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
Outdoors time is probably best avoided now, until you can get the vaccine. We have had big outbreaks of this virus in Europe since 2016, and it is a horrible killer. The mortality rate is between 25-75%. If you bun has access to an outdoors run you could have mosquito netting around it.
It’s sad though because it’s such a great enhancement of…[Read more]

Does this mean I have to eliminate Marzi’s outside time altogether? He gets go both indoors and outdoors during his free roam time but he mainly sleeps inside and gets most of his exercise outside.

maybe your parents will be a little easier to convince than mine
oh no. I’ve already asked them many many times and it has not worked, even when I present some reasons. hopefully your parents say yes!

Gingerxmistyxo started the topic Humping help! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
Hi,
I did a previous post about the humping going on between my bonded pair. Neither of them are bothered by it. I noticed yesterday that ginger (the boy) looked to fall off on his side. Both ginger and misty are both neutered and have been for over a year. I was just wondering, was this a coincidence or was he really err falling off. I know that…[Read more]

Thank you for the tips! I think that if I get bunnies I’ll ask my parents to pay for veggies and vet care, because I’ll be paying for basically everything else. I think I might ask them if we can grow some stuff like lettuces and kale in our garden once we dog proof it. Last year my dogs got into it and ruined the garden, twice.😂

All good. It’s one of those rules membersbecome familiar with when they’ve been here a while. Hopefully older topics will automatically be closed to new replies with the updated forum changes.
You *could* expand the pellets and they would still have some absorbent qualities but it will likely be messier and not last as long. The hay cushion on…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic Constant GI Stasis in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
That he goes to eat hay is a good sign. He obviously knows he’s needing fibre then. It’s the best thing for him during those times. Rabbits will often snub their favourite things when they’re feeling “off”. You might find pellets are the last thing they go back to showing interest in. But as long as they’re getting fibre in through hay, grass o…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic My rabbit lays on wee wee pad? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
How old it he? He might be trying to mark the pee pads with his own scent.
I suggest taking the top off his litterbox for a while to encourage him to go in there more. Rabbits can tend to avoid things that have only one entry/exit point. It’s why they like hidey-boxes to have 2 holes and if it only has one, they’ll often make the second one themselves. 😉

jerseygirl replied to the topic Rabbit ate Chewing Gum 🙁 in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
At least you know how much he got. I would encourage hay, water, greens (if he already has those in his diet). That should help move the gum through. Monitor closely and see a vet it be stops pooping, eating or is showing discomfort.
He should be okay. We’ve had lots of owners report this happening… bunnies get up all sorts of things. Keep us p…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Are some buns just not as hoppy? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
“Why hop when you can flop?” That’s a perfect description of some buns, for example my bridge bunny Bam. He was very laid back. He could hop amazingly though, if he was motivated. His motivation was food. He once jumped from the floor right up in the air and landed in the bowl of fruit salad that I was holding in my hand. I had to wipe whipped…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic potty training? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
My Louie is five mo. too! When we adopted him he was mostly litter trained but his foster owner complained he often peed outside of the box. I noticed her litter box was VERY small. Louie’s new litter box is very spacious, it’s meant for a larger cat, and he rarely gets droppings out of it, and has not peed out of the box either. I’m not sure…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic how to tell a bunny no in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
My bunny Louie loves hiding behind the curtains, but I don’t want him back there, he also tries to dig at the rug instead of the towels and blankets I give him. I give a loud “Uh uh” and he usually stops, if he doesn’t I just get near him and move his little body over a little, he’s still skittish so sometimes just walking over to him is enough to…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic Litter box Training: How many droppings outside the box are normal? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
My bun Louie is 5 mo, in his foster home we were told he often peed and got droppings outside of the box, but once he came home he got a big spacious litter box, and he only gets 1-3 droppings out of it every few days. Maybe a larger litter box might help?
