Hello everyone, I just wanted to give an update as it has been a while since I last wrote. Budja’s is scheduled to go and see the vet at Cornell for October 12th to get an examination/CT possible on the same day and get a game plan together, we have just a little while left to go now.  Budja’s is currently still on the regime of Meloxicam once a…[Read more]

Flakes from mites dont come off easily. There will be some dandruff-like flakes if a bun has early stage fur mites, which typically presents first on the rabbit’s back. But both ear mite scabs  and fur mites scabs stick to the skin and it causes the bun pain if you remove them by force.

Both types of mites are highly treatable with Revolution.

What would the correct dosage be for my bunny? She is 7 months and weighs around 820 grams. I know the vet should know but like I said I don’t trust they’ve ever treated rabbits.

The wax was like chocolate coloured but I checked a few moments later and it was not visible anymore so maybe she cleared it out herself. Right now I can see light yellow coloured wax in both ears which I have seen in her ears before as well and I believe it is normal.

I am concerned about the flakes on her ears though? They are still there and…[Read more]

    Rabbit-safe simethicone brands

I unfortunately am not familiar with that brand due to country, but generally dosing for simethicone is pretty relaxed since it generally doesn’t do harm. Anywhere from 0.6ml to 1ml are doses I’ve seen across the board.

If no ill effects in 6hr time, the mint was probably not…[Read more]

    Hello!

I purchased and administered some baby gas drops OVOL brand to my 2 kg bunny. I gave 1 ml as this is what I had read, is this correct dosing?

I also noticed after giving it that is “natural mint flavour”, should I be concerned?

If there are plenty of other things to chew, it could be that it’s trying to get your attention. 😄

Ear wax tends to be white or yellow-ish. To me, brown would indicate blood or dirt. How brown are we talking here? As for whether there should be ear wax… yes, sometimes you’ll see a little bit in there. But bunnies are usually able to clear it out. Sometimes they will get a piece stuck and it will tickle, making them scratch at their ear.

Thank you for your responses. I waited a few days and did nothing and the redness is now gone! However the ears have some flakes.. it’s almost like she got some sort of allergic reaction and now her skin is peeling off a little. Nothing too drastic and it’s not crusty just flakey. I’m attaching some photos of today.

I do have another quest…[Read more]

Ok that’s helpful! It sounds like this is mostly hormone related and should improve with spaying. It can take some time for hormones to settle and there is often a “post-spay craze”, so don’t be alarmed if things get worse before they improve.

In the meantime, it helps to not “back down” if she lunges at you, so you could wear thick gloves when…[Read more]
