I unfortunately am not familiar with that brand due to country, but generally dosing for simethicone is pretty relaxed since it generally doesn’t do harm. Anywhere from 0.6ml to 1ml are doses I’ve seen across the board.
If no ill effects in 6hr time, the mint was probably not…[Read more]

Hello!
I purchased and administered some baby gas drops OVOL brand to my 2 kg bunny. I gave 1 ml as this is what I had read, is this correct dosing?
I also noticed after giving it that is “natural mint flavour”, should I be concerned?

If there are plenty of other things to chew, it could be that it’s trying to get your attention. 😄

Ear wax tends to be white or yellow-ish. To me, brown would indicate blood or dirt. How brown are we talking here? As for whether there should be ear wax… yes, sometimes you’ll see a little bit in there. But bunnies are usually able to clear it out. Sometimes they will get a piece stuck and it will tickle, making them scratch at their ear.

Thank you for your responses. I waited a few days and did nothing and the redness is now gone! However the ears have some flakes.. it’s almost like she got some sort of allergic reaction and now her skin is peeling off a little. Nothing too drastic and it’s not crusty just flakey. I’m attaching some photos of today.
I do have another quest…[Read more]

Ok that’s helpful! It sounds like this is mostly hormone related and should improve with spaying. It can take some time for hormones to settle and there is often a “post-spay craze”, so don’t be alarmed if things get worse before they improve.
In the meantime, it helps to not “back down” if she lunges at you, so you could wear thick gloves when…[Read more]

Yes, I am planning to get her spayed. I lost one to uterine cancer this year and am not keen on letting it happen again. She lives in a large pen in my bedroom, I believe it’s six by four feet. We have two dogs and one cat outside of the bedroom. She has never seen either of the dogs (the room is down a hall with a pet gate so the dogs can’t get…[Read more]

yep i think so too, this morning her eye seemed a lot better and the 3rd eyelid isn’t visible anymore, the hair around it is just a little crusty from her wiping at it last night.
she is feeling much better today and is eating lots again, just seems tired from having such a long day yesterday. i gave her the first panacur dose today and she s…[Read more]

the vet gave me enough panacur for 2 weeks, i just gave her the first dose a few hours ago and she seems to be doing okay right now, she’s just napping. she’s pretty much back to normal and eating a ton again, just seems a little worn out from such a long day yesterday. i think what i’ll do is give the panacur for the 2 weeks and keep a close…[Read more]

Could it be scar tissue? It looks uneven in the photo.

Ok I feel better, I found a picture she sent me in May where he’s looking straight at the camera but his eye is cloudy. I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t been looking for it. Maybe it’s a cataract and she just didn’t mention having him examined or I forgot! But since this picture is from May at least I know this didn’t just suddenly develop.…[Read more]

That’s the issue, it isn’t my rabbit, I’m bun sitting. Still waiting to hear back whether his eye is always like this but I will ask her to take him in Monday if the Dr hasn’t already looked at this. I wasn’t aware e cuni could cause eye issues so thank you for the info!

The third eyelid protruding can be due to stress too. I hope she is feeling better today and was able to calm down enough to eat on her own. As Dana said, vets will often treat for EC on suspicion. Panacur is safe and there should be no worry in treating her for EC even if she doesn’t actually have it.

DanaNM replied to the topic Does this look like a catact? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 4 months ago
This could be due to EC, a parasite. It’s a little hard to see in the picture though. How old is your rabbit, and did this occur very suddenly? Without any other symptoms I don’t think it’s an emergency but you should have your bun checked by a vet next week.

DanaNM replied to the topic seizure?? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 4 months ago
Panacur is very safe. It takes a long time to work, the recommended course is 28 days at 20 mg/kg. Since EC tests are unreliable many vets will treat on suspicion. It can take 2 weeks or more to see an improvement. Some vets will also give an anti-inflammatory med at first because a lot of the symptoms are due to inflammation.
If she doesn’t…[Read more]
