last night my bun has pooped on my bed, so I placed him in his xpen and shut the door, which I don’t do because he is free roam, but I didn’t want poop or pee on my bed. about half an hour later, he escaped the xpen, so I just opened the door and let him free roam as usual, because there wasn’t much I wanted to do last night. he is neutered and…[Read more]

Stickiness! That does explain why I notice it during cecotrope eating. Very interesting. So it seems she is trying to eat hay in a manner not expected?
The unwillingness for food during the day vs night could be unrelated. I think a lot of owners observe their rabbits being food crazy initially, but once food security sets in (ie the…[Read more]

Agreed, Bam. I’ve often described the video as looking like a dog eating peanut butter. Glad someone else sees it that way.
Hunny has never had pellets or oats, so it’s likely she would not eat them, no matter what form they are in. She also has never had mango or grass, something my general vet tried to get Hunny to eat the last time she was…[Read more]

We have tried alternative means of Critical Care presentation, with no success, overall. The closest we came to a new delivery method was putting it powdered on a strawberry top. Even then, it took two hours before Hunny willingly ate it, possibly forgetting it was there. We’ve tried spoons, dishes, etc. All my girl does is sniff it and then move…[Read more]

In the video it looks kind of like when an animal is eating something sticky.
I don”t remember if you’ve said, but have you tried giving her s small plate of rolled oats? Oats are gentle on the tummy and easy to chew, and many buns like them a lot. It’s one of the few things my chronic dental bun can and will eat. While cereal is not the best…[Read more]

Generally, unless you somehow got your hands on something immensely toxic, the small amount they’d get from licking you won’t really do much.
On the other hand, understand that they may lick you right after eating a cecotrope, in which case congratulations you now have poop spit on yourself, haha.
I do get the occasional allergic reaction from…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Bun on Bed? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
Rabbits generally love peeing and pooping on soft things, so beds commonly are consistent targets, regardless of the rabbit’s litter habits outside the environment. It’s also a place permeated with your scent, which can activate such behavior.
In terms of the safety, it is generally fine as long as you’re OK with the possibility of rolling over…[Read more]

I edited my post and it glitched out, haha. It is revived now.
The aversion to Critical Care can be a lot of things, but no harm in trying something new. You may have a routine in prepping it and presenting it that will not be present in presenting mush food, so perhaps it will be less aversive? Have you tried a pellet mush? You soak pellets in a…[Read more]

it’s a good question, and the main answer would be yes, it’s safe for them to lick you, but if you know you were handling something toxic, a quick hand rinse can’t hurt.

so I just went online I don’t know if you’ve looked at this yet, but it might be helpful
“A change in eating habits can indicate teeth problems and should be investigated by a vet. If your rabbit stops eating hay, starts dribbling, has longer than regular front teeth or chews differently to normal, then a visit to your vet is needed”

So for some reason, Wick responded, but it’s not showing up. Here’s what I have to say to what Wick wrote:
It’s Hunny’s desire to eat that makes this so heartbreaking to watch. I noticed how short her incisors were post-filing; I had thought they had only done Hunny’s back teeth, but regardless, this is a problem Hunny has had since even before…[Read more]

Ok this is a really weird question but is it safe for rabbits to lick you? Like I feel like I’m weirdly paranoid about him licking me because I don’t know what I’ve touched. If I’ve eaten something that is harmful to rabbits, and there’s some left over on my hands and I didn’t realize it could it hurt them? Or like if I just put on hand saniti…[Read more]

Yes, the pee will wash out. He will only continue to pee there if the smell remains so if you don’t have time to wash the sheets, use baking soda and vinegar. The pooping will probably stop once he gets more used to the bed since he’s probably territorial marking. He’s probably jealous that the bed smells like you and not him lol. You could proba…[Read more]
