Hay, again bunny lovers!
Binki is almost a year and a 1/2, actually. Her hocks aren’t so bad. They’re just red and inflamed, and I haven’t noticed any scabs are blood, or anything. I’m so sorry, I think I might have made a mistake in my first text. Binki’s sore hocks aren’t caused by being underweight, I meant is being underweight a symptom of…[Read more]

Rainn replied to the topic Changing around position of things in cage to make her interested? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Okay so Ive monitored throughout the day and the problem seemingly is getting worse…she absolutely refuses to eat any hat and I’m definitely going to schedule a vet appointment but there’s only one rabbit vet in my area, and she takes a couple days to schedule things. What should I do in the mean time to get her to eat the hay?

He’s actually been to my partner’s place twice before I officially moved-in and he was actually on perfect litterbox behaviour in the winter months.
Did he have the free-range back during those times?
Then spring rolls around, and we let him outside, and he’s an absolute disaster. I thought it was spring crazies, but this is just never endin…

Louiethebunny replied to the topic What does rabbit purring sound like? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
so glad to hear! yeah, I noticed both a quiet “rumble” which I guess is the purr, as well as a quiet clicking. I heard a video of the “in pain” tooth grinding, which is a very different sound. I’ mm so happy my bun and I are getting closer!!

jerseygirl replied to the topic What does rabbit purring sound like? in the forum BEHAVIOR 6 years, 4 months ago
They sound like excellent signs. 🙂
The “purr” sounds like a very low volume chatter of the teeth. Kind of like a vibration I suppose. Mine tend to do the 3-click type purr though. Again, not loud, just a click-click-click. I often do it back. 🙂

That was a good move. They need to be really careful about what info they provide. Not every owner is going to know about that in advance. I think it would be good practice for all clinics to put in their standard pre-op printed info “(unless it’s a rabbit)” or something like that. So if cat/dog info gets handed over at least the exception is in there.

Even if it seems like an annoyance, helping people by informing them what’s correct, in a nice way, is always a good thing. There’s a lot of false bunny info out there, and help prevent it is great. 🙂

jerseygirl replied to the topic Litter and Poop in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 4 months ago
Yes, a better litter will definitely help with odor control. Paper based litters are easy to find. Like Yesterdays news, Carefresh. You can buy the cat one. Wood pellet litters are great and very economical. Lots of people buy the big bags of horse stall bedding (pellets pine) or wood stove pellets that dont have any accelerant added to it.…[Read more]

Recently my bun and I have been getting closer, and tonight I was stroking him and he was making a subtle noise. I was wondering what rabbit purring or content tooth clicking sounds like, because I would love to know Louie was content with my cuddles. He also began grooming me in return and staring licking my leg, which didn’t have any scent of…[Read more]

Even though I don’t have time for a second bunny or pet, I still find myself growing Petfinder and shelters near me for cute bunnies. I would love to get my bun a friend but a second bunny is a big commitment with the bonding and doubles in price and space. Maybe in the future, but it is so hard to resist their cute little faces. Knowing I gave a…[Read more]

jerseygirl replied to the topic PLEASE HELP BUNNY REFUSES TO TAKE MEDS in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
That’s great. Go slow with the additional fruits and veggies though. I’d even wait until he has finished the meds, allowing the banana only – or whatever else you mix it in. Reason for this is you will want to monitor for changes to his poop once he starts on new foods. At the moment, if there was changes, you wont really be able to tell if it’s…[Read more]

I’m kinda jealous. I’d love to be getting to know a new furbaby through out this time. I’m home all the time (out of work since covid) and my 3 buns are not reacting positively or negatively to it really. They’ve had to put up with some more cuddles though…

Louiethebunny started the topic Best bun rug in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 4 months ago
Does anyone have any favorite rugs for their bunny? I’ve been needing a new rug or two for my room for my bun, as I have hardwood flooring. Rugs can be pricey, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any rugs they like for a good price?

Yup! The vet told me to feed him up until the surgery, I’m even preparing a little container of hay, pellets, and herbs for the doctor to give him as soon as he wakes up (a website advised this, I thought it sounded like a good idea).
It’s like you read my mind though! The receptionist sent me a note telling me to make sure he doesn’t eat after…[Read more]
