6/24 updates: good news!

I’m glad that you’ve found a good deal on the pellets your rabbits like! I feed my two buns the Oxbow Organic Bounty Adult pellets, we just switched not too long ago – they love them! They haven’t had the chance to make a mess on it yet, so we’ll have to see. I actually chose them over those speckled ones that are used for gym floors because, we did a trial of both and the gym ones just attracted and held onto so much fur so quickly because of the sticky material.

Thank you for the advice! I did the skin tent test on her, and she snapped back quickly, but she still isn’t drinking water, and now she isn’t eating her hay! She will eat her pellets just fine, but she hasn’t been going to the bathroom or eating and drinking. I’m going to call the vet today.

Ohh that’s really good to know! I guess I’ll just check that they’re dead first and comb him in his area then switch the blanket.
In other news, I’ve noticed he pees outside of his litter box when it gets too soiled for his liking… which is after like one day. 🙄 He’s already getting a taste for the spoiled life.

Wow! He will become a big boy!

From what I can find, Advantage II kills fleas of all life stages, ie eggs, larvae and mature fleas (unsure if there’s a nymph stage). That would mean that whatever you brush off of him once treatment has taken effect, will be dead/non-viable.

Interesting. It does seem a bit that way – but mostly because they prefer to use just the one outside tray instead of the inside one. We can try some new configurations and see if that helps perhaps.

I have found that two litterboxes sometimes makes things tense between the two rabbits I’m bonding. The dominant one will herd the other to stay and use just one of them and the dominant one has more “claim” to another. Is that something you have observed at all?

He had his vet appointment yesterday and Jerseygirl was right – they do think someone previously shaved him. They also think he’s younger than a year old, and he weighs almost 6 pounds! It is generally believed to be safe to house young rabbits together until week 12. Of course keep an eye and separate if you see signs of aggression! Also check often for testicles- rabbits can pull them in so they dont show.

We did actually add a second litterbox, one in their tray the other outside. We thought it would help but apparently not – we could try moving both outside, or removing the tray?!

I have noticed a couple of incidents of chasing when they free roam in the day but it comes to an end as Pumpkin gets away from Hero.

What do you have in the night pen?

Sometimes the litter box or a hidey-house can trigger some territorial behaviours. If they is one litter box, I’d try adding another.

This kind of behaviour was happening during early stages, but there was a golden period where everything seemed rosy. The newest room does seem to have made things more complicated, but we can’t figure out why. It’s not that much bigger than the previous room and their set up is the same.
