It’s not letting me post a picture for some reason. But both my profile picture and cover photo have them in it.

Hmm, from your reply, it sounds more likely that they are feral (or stray) domestic rabbits? Can you post a pic just to confirm?
Anyway, yes for now just keep letting them calm down. Since they were fighting pretty badly, once you get their new enclosures built, they might benefit from being completely separated from each other for a couple…[Read more]

I feed a handful of greens in the morning 8-9 am-ish and again at night 9-10 pm-ish. He does free roam in my room all the time, and I have noticed that he ate more when he was in an xpen. Luckily today his appetite did increase a bit and I’m thinking of placing hay bags around the room so he has some in all his favorite spots. His poops are…[Read more]

Hey everyone, I keep seeing ads for different bunny toy/treat monthly subscription boxes and they look pretty fun. I’m always looking for healthy ways to enrich their lives a little more so I was wondering if anyone here has used any such service and found it to be worth the money? Looking for healthy all natural ones

I have a Bonnie update! Last night I decided to let her free-roam overnight because she seems to have no interest in chewing things or digging the carpet. Woke up around 4 this morning to her zooming around the apartment! 😀 So happy she is getting more comfortable here!

Also just to check, how much veggies do you feed? Filling up on veggies will also reduce how much hay they eat.
Final thing, I have noticed sometimes when I let my buns free-roam all day, for whatever reason they eat less hay. Hay eating can be a response to boredom. Of course we don’t want our bunnies to be bored (!), but it does seem like…[Read more]

Will update you, but I’m not sure how long it will take. Things still aren’t back to normal here with covid yet x

I think consulting with a behaviorist is a great idea if you can find one. I would be very interested to hear what they say!

DanaNM replied to the topic Help Bunny won’t agree to leave my room in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years, 3 months ago
She’s still settling in, 2 weeks is no time at all! Just keep doing as you’re doing and eventually I’m sure she will start going on more adventures.
She also might feel more confident if you add some hides for her around the room and near the door. 🙂

I also meant to ask, I’m guessing she will be free-roaming in the cottage? Or in a pen? Just curious about whether you’ll need to do any bunny-proofing.

Mashed up pellets also can work in a pinch, they are just a bit harder to syringe because they aren’t as finely ground. 🙂

Just keep at it and be patient! It can take several months to build trust. But those are the most rewarding once you get it. 🙂 It can take anywhere from 3-6 months to start seeing improvements. And often the improvements are not that gradual. It’s like one day they decide they trust you and then things are great. 🙂

sometimes I get pinecones that have fallen and put little pellets inside for Alaska to find. She rolls it around everywhere to get them out. Some bunnies like to chew on them. I soak them in some water for a few hours then put them in the oven for 30 minutes just to make sure its really clean an disinfected.

Alaska'sMom replied to the topic creating a rabbit room! ideas? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 6 years, 3 months ago
So cool that you can have a space dedicated to your pets!! I would recommend having a hidden house, litter box (multiple if you have more than one bunny), of coarse a bunch of toys to keep them occupied, maybe a basket (with uncured wood) with hay in it as a snack bar, tunnels, and cardboard boxes. Its always good to have plenty of toys that you…[Read more]

Hazel – He was very wary of me picking him up. LOL I’ve been finding lots of insects lately. Those milkweed beetles don’t want to stay on your hand though. 😐
It has been in the 90s since the start of June and very humid. So yeah, it sucks anytime I have to do fieldwork.

Thank you DanaNM for your advice!! I think she will for sure be one of those bunnies that takes awhile to really get used to me and take awhile to bond with. My previous bunny was so easy!!! Kind of a shock because I’ve never been with a bunny so timid and distrustful. But it will take a lot of time. I have been trying to “ask” for permission to…[Read more]

When I get the results of Hunny’s myasthenia gravis test, I will definitely keep this community’s advice in mind. I am not sure what steps the neurologist will want to take, but I will try to give him your suggestions, assuming my family doesn’t dismiss them as mere things I read online while researching due to my OCD…

Thank you for adopting these rabbits!
You can give a butt bath to a very dirty rabbit. You can also do a dry bath with corn starch. Here are some instructions from a trusted source, although I have some additions I’d like to make:

My additions would be: You only need very little soap or shampoo.…[Read more]
