Hi, I went to the store today and picked up a little blanket for my rabbit, Rex. I was planning on giving it directly to him, but I thought again, and I want to know if I should wash it before giving it to him. Please help!

I would, but then again I always wash any new blankets or clothes before using them. Probably not necessary, but it won’t hurt anything. 🙂

I generally wash first too. Even if it’s just a quick wash in the sink. That said, I have in the past just given him the blanket, so think it’s up to you. If it smells pretty chemically I would wash though, sometimes if they have been stored in plastic or such they can.

Yes, I would wash it for your safety and his. Make sure to use unscented laundry detergent and no softener or dryer sheets.

yes i think you should wash the blanket since of course for your own safety because of COVID and it was probably in plastic packaging when it arrived from delivery to the shop 🙂

You should definitely wash since you don’t know what chemicals are on it. I suggest washing in very light detergent if at all, on delicate cycle, and then dry. Your rabbit will thank you for it!

I’m going to go ahead and lock this thread. It isn’t that old but the OP was from a month ago and for some reason this keeps resurfacing. 😉
