I think consulting with a behaviorist is a great idea if you can find one. I would be very interested to hear what they say!

She’s still settling in, 2 weeks is no time at all! Just keep doing as you’re doing and eventually I’m sure she will start going on more adventures.

She also might feel more confident if you add some hides for her around the room and near the door. 🙂

I also meant to ask, I’m guessing she will be free-roaming in the cottage? Or in a pen? Just curious about whether you’ll need to do any bunny-proofing.

Mashed up pellets also can work in a pinch, they are just a bit harder to syringe because they aren’t as finely ground. 🙂

Just keep at it and be patient! It can take several months to build trust. But those are the most rewarding once you get it. 🙂  It can take anywhere from 3-6 months to start seeing improvements. And often the improvements are not that gradual. It’s like one day they decide they trust you and then things are great. 🙂

sometimes I get pinecones that have fallen and put little pellets inside for Alaska to find. She rolls it around everywhere to get them out. Some bunnies like to chew on them. I soak them in some water for a few hours then put them in the oven for 30 minutes just to make sure its really clean an disinfected.

So cool that you can have a space dedicated to your pets!! Hazel – He was very wary of me picking him up. LOL  I’ve been finding lots of insects lately. Those milkweed beetles don’t want to stay on your hand though. 😐

It has been in the 90s since the start of June and very humid. So yeah, it sucks anytime I have to do fieldwork.

Usually from what I’ve seen when bunnies have gas, they don’t have an appetite for anything – not just hay – and they’ll lay in the loaf position for long periods of time but you say Louie is otherwise acting normal. Let us know if reducing his pellets works as that definitely could be the cause for less hay consumption.

I can hear them from my room (I live in an apartment). They didn’t fight last night, just stamping and chasing.
