Hi everyone my bunny is on panacur and this morning i dropped some on her fur and it didnt Make it into Her mouth so i gave her a little more to make it for the little bit that has fallen.

Now it’s 6 pm and she’s not acting her usual self. I’ve had to feed her by hand and she will take some veggies and some not and she didn’t run for her daily p…[Read more]

Thank you! Yes, I think the fur ripping is what tore off the skin. It might be more than an abrasion, a couple spots definitely took off a layer or more of skin. He’s been licking it and it looks worse and even bleeding a little today, but did spray with a saline solution and see no sign of infection.. and he is acting normal, eating, doing…[Read more]

It isn’t toxic, if that’s what you’re asking. As an additive in food, it’s likely to make up a very small percentage. Therefore, the dose would be extremely low. I don’t know if any data exists for the safety of consuming it in large quantities… at least not for small animals like rabbits. I can’t speak specifically to the herbal drops, but I…[Read more]

I agree. Veggies are not essential. They can do fine on hay and pellets. So if one bunny cannot handle them, then it’s OK to just not feed them at all.

You could always have the vet try to flush it out.

You do need to be careful because sometimes when fur is pulled out violently, it takes the skin with it. Sometimes it’s just to top layer of skin and it looks like an abrasion, other times it is deeper and the underlying tissue is exposed. If it just resembles an abrasion, then I think you’re OK applying ointment and monitoring until Monday. Then…[Read more]

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I was thinking the same and got some safe ointment. He actually has a couple more scratches too but they don’t look as bad. And does not look deep, just kinda big and raw so I can’t imagine it would need sutures. I’ll be monitoring closely.

I think as long as you try to keep the sore clean, it will be fine, certainly until Monday in any case. I assume it’s too small to need sutures.

Plain Neosporin (without an added painkiller) is bunny safe. Your bun is very likely to lick off any type of ointment though, if the sore is in a place where he can reach it.

Try to distract him from…[Read more]

Hi, I made a rookie mistake and my unbonded rabbits got to each other last night:(  I know it was a terrible mistake, I was really tired and missed something.

That said, the smaller one got pretty beat up. Enough fur pulled out to look like another rabbit. It was everywhere:( thankfully I don’t see any serious injuries, but there is one spot…[Read more]

Rabbits can live excellently on hay and pellets. Greens are more an enrichment. So if treats and greens don’t agree with one of your buns, you could safely cut out greens and treats for both buns. Maybe use part of the daily pellet ration as treats?

I agree its very difficult to limit food for one bun but not the other.

Hi, same thing happened with my girl. I had been giving a couple types of treats and once I switched to natural treats like fruit and oats, it stopped. I also cut back on the pellets. I did have to switch treats for the other bun in the pair, but at least I can give them something. She doesn’t like greens.

Thanks for the info! I believe he’s having soft stools because just yesterday I found pinworms in their stool, so I think that’s causing some stool issues.

As for the grooming, i’ll try the clicker training method and see how that goes. also my long haired bun doesn’t like when i put soft litter without the hay on top, he will start pushing it…[Read more]

Yes, but in person it did not look like a foxtail. He’s had vocal (loud) breathing and sneezing in the past year, but recently it’s been getting louder and more sneezing, so I wonder if something is obstructed. My vet believes it’s the snuffles, but is hesitant to prescribe antiobiotics b/c he’s tried it like twice and it’s hard (on my part) to be…[Read more]

Finally some good news after a scary week

my bunny went to the vet today and had his check up. He had a cyst. The vet said he is very healthy and the cyst is nothing to worry about.  He took care of it. In 2 weeks if I notice that it has come back he will give me an antibiotic. If it continues to come back he will surgically remove it when I…[Read more]

I also have a senior bun, he’s about 11 years old who has very painful ankle osteoarthritis in both back legs.  I’m truly traumatized about just thinking about having to euthanize him due to pain.  I have another mini lop, with suspected tail arthritis (as diagnosed by the vet), but she’s shows no signs of pain, I just find her butt cookies…[Read more]

We are getting vaxed again soon. I’m sad to learn we have to use the two dose version now instead of the one dose we had before. My buns are always unhappy and sluggish after the vax.

    Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone’s tried the NHV Natural Pet Products branded supplements?  They are glycerine based herbal drops…for cats, dogs, farm animals, rabbits and other small pets etc.  They are basic herbal formulations that can be used in multiple species.

I use a lot of the herbs myself in the form of pharmaceuticals grade suppl…[Read more]
