Yay! We hope he keeps gaining energy and getting better 🙂 Ben had a period of time during his recovery where he would lay down and breathe fast after hopping 4-5ft. It didn’t last too long though! I hope your sweet boy keeps eating and healing well 🙂

There’s not a lot you can do except try to be a valuable resource to your bun. I e be the bringer of food and treats and nice company. If he doesn’t want to go near you, don’t chase him or force him. It can take time for him to seek you out again. If your bun was very young (a few months), his distancing himself from you can very well be, at least…[Read more]

Another quick update, yesterday he looked very tired. Today much brighter and happier. Even munched on some hay.
Thank you, for the encouragement.

Almost two months with my new rabbit and things were going well. Bunny was a bit clingy, but I learned how to deal with it. The main problem was how he insisted on peeing on my couch, bed and even on me.

Yes, I know, neutering. I’m working on that. Unfortunately the areas…[Read more] -

I’m having trouble bonding my 2 boys after starting off wonderfully.
Clyde my dutch, was here first and has been a spoiled only child till Waffles came with us. They’ve lived next door to each other but not together since day one and have both been fixed now.
Clyde has never been happy about sharing a space with Waffles and was aggressive…[Read more]

Yes, a whole baby carrot every day is a lot! If you want to give carrot, I would just give him a tiny piece. I’m talking bite-sized. Many people use pellets as rewards, but I understand that might be difficult if he is currently getting unlimited pellets.

Thank you! I will try that but with something else just because he is only like 3-4 months old so he gets as many pellets as he wants. But I do give him daily vegetables so I could give that as a treat rather than just daily food.
And as for the other one I did not mean to do that, it wouldn’t post so I tried again and it worked. I just didn’t…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Is it sore hocks or abscess?! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years, 5 months ago
It’s good that you have a painkiller. I don’t think I’d dare do much with this foot until a vet has had a look at it. It does look infected so oral antibiotics are probably needed.
Until Monday, maybe just try to keep his area very clean, empty the litterboxes and renew the litter material.

Carrots have a lot of sugar, so I’d only give small pieces of carrot as treats/rewards. You could save some of his daily pellets and use them as treats or rewards. I often hand feed pellets so my rabbits believe pellets are treats.
For training purposes it’s good to switch between “high value” treats (piece of carrot) and less high value treats (pellets).

I am starting trying to call my bunny out of his cage by name, rather then reaching in and grabbing him. When he comes I take him out and give him one of those baby carrots as a good job treat. I am going to try to take him out every day and give him good job carrot. I did yesterday, and he LOVED it!I know carrots are just a treat, so I don’t want…[Read more]

Hi yes all the pics are from one foot only. I called the vet and they only have a opening for Monday afternoon. Should i leave it be or put something on it? Also i have some left over pain meds from the dental trim visit i gave him some of that to help him through this weekend.

I want to give my bunny a treat for when he comes by his name. We bought carrots and he loves them. I gave him some yesterday and he LOVED it! They are just the little baby carrots but I am wondering how often I can give him some. I don’t want to over do it because I know they are only treats. Can anyone tell me?
