I am starting trying to call my bunny out of his cage by name, rather then reaching in and grabbing him. When he comes I take him out and give him one of those baby carrots as a good job treat. I am going to try to take him out every day and give him good job carrot. I did yesterday, and he LOVED it!I know carrots are just a treat, so I don’t want to over do it. Can anyone tell me if it’s ok for everyday or every other day or even just every week?

Carrots have a lot of sugar, so I’d only give small pieces of carrot as treats/rewards, especially to begin with. You could save some of his daily pellets and use them as treats or rewards. I often hand feed pellets so my rabbits believe pellets are treats.

For training purposes it’s good to switch between “high value” treats (piece of carrot) and less high value treats (pellets).

(I closed your other thread because it’s similar to this one and it’s better to keep the discussion in one thread).

Thank you! I will try that but with something else just because he is only like 3-4 months old so he gets as many pellets as he wants. But I do give him daily vegetables so I could give that as a treat rather than just daily food.

And as for the other one I did not mean to do that, it wouldn’t post so I tried again and it worked. I just didn’t realize it did post the first time and then I couldn’t delete it.

Yes, a whole baby carrot every day is a lot! If you want to give carrot, I would just give him a tiny piece. I’m talking bite-sized. Many people use pellets as rewards, but I understand that might be difficult if he is currently getting unlimited pellets.
