Hi FluffyBunny! So nice to see you! And what adorable bunnies you have! So cute!
Yes, the forum has slowed considerably. I imagine many people have turned to places like Reddit out of convenience, if nothing else. You are still welcome to post questions here though. We are still around. 🙂

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>Hi folks!</p>
Not sure what nostalgia prompted me to look at this forum again. I suppose I have bunnies on the brain 🙂 Sad to see traffic has dropped off so sharply. (I’m not a fan of Reddit and the judgy tone folks have there, or how hard it is to search for posts)I now have six rabbits. There’s Cadbury (red mix…[Read more]

Yes, EC can affect the kidneys. I agree with Bam that CC or Emeraid are probably your best bets.

I send a reply to you unsure where it went though. Â They will all be 6months or older when I hope to take down the 2 remaining x-pens down. Â really don’t like them. Â Oopsie & Daizie will be 6m on the 12th of March and will be fixed on the 16th of this month, and Echo & Shadow will be 6m April 21st and will be fixed on April 20th. Â I am hoping to…[Read more]

I completely agree that it’s not a competition and should not be treated as such. It’s very rude! And frustrating, for sure.

I’m sorry your bun isn’t well. EC often affects the kidneys and can do lasting damage to them. This can go on silently for a long time before the owner has a chance to notice a problem.
Hydration is key of course. Rolled oats and Critical Care is what I gave my bun Vilde who had difficulty keeping weight on. There is also Emeraid, if you’re in…[Read more]

Ah, ok, then at least if its just right outside, you could just cover the one small area and might not be as bad to keep up with versus several or a whole cage. Maybe the reusable pee pads would work, like someone else mentioned.
I think sometimes bunnies have arguments, the same as humans. We have a bonded pair, 2 boys, and 98% of the time, they…[Read more]

Unfortunately, there are long waiting times here, even for critical cases. I had an appointment with another vet, who thinks the issues are likely kidney related. Blood results from the first vet showed elevated urea, potassium, and creatinine, and the first vet’s x-ray also indicated kidney problems, but they didn’t recommend further act…[Read more]

I’m sure this is because rabbits are still commonly regarded as disposable fluffy little things that sit in a cage.
The connection between a human and a bun can be profound.
Imo opinion it’s really very rude of ppl to try and minimize another person’s grief and pain of loss. Grief isn’t a competition.

They are free roam during the day. I’m a stay at home Mom and homeschool my boys, so we’re home a lot and they’re out, but they’re in a 10×4 area at night. It uses to be a 10×12 area, but I was told to reduce the area to start over again and see if that helped. It did for about 2 days, then she started peeing again. She pees right outside the…[Read more]

That’s a good point. And bunnies certainly can become attached to their human as much as any dog. 🙂

I think it has more to do with the level of bond you have. People often think of the bond between a human and their dog is very strong. People often do not associate this bond with a rabbit, but people certainly can and do develop very strong bonds with their bunnies.

Sorry if this is a weird post here, it didn’t quite fit elsewhere.
This weekend, my mother in law had to have her dog put to sleep. She was 17 years old, which apparently is very old for a pug. Obviously, MIL was devastated. But, she made a comment that implied her grief over her dog was more profound than the grief we feel over losing a rabbit…[Read more]

Poop wars are pretty common in intact buns (and even happens with altered buns when they meet someone new or enter a new space). But it should lessen quite a bit after getting them fixed. 🙂

From what I understand, it is used as a cover crop. So when the field is rotated back to orchard, it can end up with some alfalfa sneaking in there.

I buy orchard grass from Small Pet Select and I haven’t noticed any alfalfa hay in it. I get the 2 pound boxes.

We just use timothy. I’ve noticed several batches have had a lot of brown in them.
I wonder if alfalfa is a cheaper grass and is being used as a filler more often? I’m not quite sure how all the growing etc works.

Are your buns free roam? If they live in a pen (or at least thats where the litter box is and the peeing is happening) you could try laying a fleece blanket over the pee pads so he doesn’t chew them.
My first thought was a second litter box, too. Do you use any sort of bedding in the litter box? Perhaps she is opposed to that if you do, or maybe…[Read more]
