starlight started the topic Grooming on first bonding followed by a fight? in the forum BONDING 6 years, 1 month ago

I’m currently attempting to bond 4yo neutered male (Nimbus) with a 4yo spayed female (Bagel).

I divided my room in half and things seemed to be going well. Mirroring, ignoring each other, eating and laying nearby. After about 5 days like that, I switched their sides a few days ago. Today I removed the boundary for a quick date (probably not a…[Read more]

Hmmmm I can look into getting some floor tiles. I have heard that you shouldn’t put fabrics in their pens until they’re better with their litter habits. I just wasn’t sure if I should do that since I think they were litter trained until more bunnies arrived at the animal rescue. Would putting down just a tarp or shower curtain on the floor be ok…[Read more]

I did no such thing, I have a cough. Also, we’re gonna need some pictures so we can help you pick out a name.

@lindseyh : Thanks, it totally is. I don’t mind the hutch itself so much, the real problem is the run. To clean the floor I have to detach it from the hutch and lug it across the room. That thing is heavy! I might just take all the wood off the grids and zip tie them back together. It wouldn’t look pretty but I could make it easier to work with.

@DanaNM : Lily (Siamese) does the same thing. When she had surgery they shaved part of her leg for the IV, since her skin was exposed and colder, the fur grew back darker.

@Louiethebunny : Don’t forget to take pictures for us! Just be discreet so Louie won’t be embarrassed. 😉

I definitaly want to free roam my bunny in my bedroom but i was wondering if it would be best to buy a dog crate for him to sleep in at night and if so what to put in it? 🙂

Oooh so pretty! A new rabbit just arrived at the shelter and I think he is that color! He is so pretty, we were all fawning over him.

Some buns (including mine) can’t have foam mats because they will chew them, so it would be good to have a backup plan in case that’s the case for yours. Some people will use a sheet of linoleum as their waterproof base. I recently found that those floor protectors for office chairs work well too in a pinch (but they are kind of expensive and that…[Read more]

Puzzle mats are great! As long as the edges arent exposed to be chewed on, they are a great option that many people use. I made my own xpen “mat”, it’s basically a pillowcase for a tarp, I put a folded tarp inside the mat and velcro the edge, so if my bun ever spills water or has an accident, I can toss the mat in the wash and the tarp protects my…[Read more]

I’ve ordered two x pens for my bunnies coming home soon. They’re getting neutered through the animal rescue on August 12 and I can take them home the day after if they’re doing okay. I’d like to know the best things to put at the bottom of the pens! Their litter habits will probably not be great since they will be housed next to each other until t…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Ear mites or dandruff? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 1 month ago

It looks more like possible fur mites (“walking dandruff” than ear mites to me. Ear mites tend to be inside the ears, whereas fur mites occur mainly between the shoulder blades, around the base of the ears or the root of the tail – places where the rabbit can’t reach to clean themselves very well.

This could also be just dry flaky skin. It is…[Read more]
