@Moonlightbunny Good catch, but with RHD the seizure usually occurs shortly before death. 🙁 So that’s probably not the case here (thankfully)!

FYI the forum search function works well for questions like this that are somewhat general. It wasn’t working before the site update but now it works!
If you search “litter box setup” you will find lots of examples from past members and see the pro’s and con’s. 🙂 (be aware the first few results will be adds, so scroll down a bit to see the…[Read more]

You could scale back the pellets for sure. I would say 1/2 cup is on the high end, but for a big bunny isn’t too crazy. I think most of us here feed between a tablespoon and 1/4 cup per day. The shelter I volunteer at does 1 tablespoon per bun, no matter how big they are (but buns that are known to be underweight or are growing get more). Since…[Read more]

You might try setting up a pen or a crate at home, that you always leave open, but that has his water bowl, blanket, litter box, etc. Anything that he considers his “home stuff”. Then when you leave or take him somewhere, enclose him in the pen. I’m thinking that if he feels less like “HIS” turf is being invaded (or has his own safe space), he…[Read more]

Hay and pelleted food are very likely to be safe (and of course our bunnies NEED hay!). Technically they could be contaminated, but it’s very unlikely. Plus they are stored dry for long periods of time so that increases safety too. Oxbow has a statement up on their website about the safety of their products, and the Binky Bunny store has confirmed…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I’m getting my two boy buns next week the day after their neuters. They’re still at the animal shelter right now so I haven’t seen them in real life yet. I wanna know how much greens and pellets to feed them. I read things that say they should eat *blank* amount per pounds of body weight, but they say different food amounts. One o…[Read more]

Oats are to be considered a treat. They can be helpful for buns that have trouble keeping weight on, f ex aging buns or buns that have been ill and need fattening up. Oats are generally well tolerated by the rabbit gut.
Rabbits are foliovores though, their GI system has adapted to a very skinny, low calorie diet consisting mainly of grass (hay is…[Read more]

I’m not sure about grates. I think they are bad for their feet but some people use them because their rabbits dig in the litter box. But not every rabbit does that. You can put hay in the litter box and in a rack so they have something soft to sit on while eating. You wanna make sure your box is big enough so the rabbit doesn’t start peeing and…[Read more]
