If you get a rabbit from a Craig’s List ad, it likely won’t already be spayed or neutered, so you would have a longer wait after you bring the rabbit home, before you could think about bonding him or her with your rabbit. Almost all rescues will have their rabbits already spayed and neutered and many shelters will too. So if you adopted from o…[Read more]

THANK YOU! I just hope we haven’t permanently harmed our relationship. We were just going by our first bunny who was comfortable with everything and any level. He’d even climb stairs to third floor if we forgot to shut door. Nina and Rose do seem comfortable on both main and basement levels of house and have their own routine on each. I’m…[Read more]

I agree with the above posts. You should wait 4-6 weeks after the neuter before trying to bond them. The one being neutered should also be resting in his cage for 10-14 days to heal. Why do you want them bonded before you go?

Now I think she’s just protesting her regular food and all she wants is the critical care. She happily gobbles down all the critical care I give her, but everything else she eats sparingly. My vet recommended going to a feed store and getting a bale of hay, that she might like it better because it’s fresh. Any other ideas?

I think her GI tract is starting to slow down again. Yesterday there were less poops and she wasn’t eating as much. I gave her some more simethicone and when I woke up there were a good amount of poops. She’s still eating but her appetite is definitely slowing down. I really don’t want her to go into stasis again. Is there anything I can do?

I also think that you should wait until your rabbit has been neutered before attempting bonding. An unneutered rabbit is dealing with hormones and those can cause aggression. Your other rabbit can also react to your younger ones hormones and become aggressive. Bonding should wait until a month after your rabbit’s surgery, to give the ho…[Read more]

Hi @Breakie
I am so sorry that you are going through this tough situation. Alas, I think the only option you have would be to bond them when you reach your new home. If you try to bond the young male before he is neutered, chances are, that you will have to start all over again, for once he is neutered, his scent will change, and behavior will…[Read more]

It sounds like we should not put them in any situation at all where we have to chase/grab them. Is this what you all are saying?
Yes that’s basically it. 🙂 Agree with everything Dana said. Feed them inside the pen, and schedule their meal (or one of them) for when you want to put them up at night. Or you can use a special treat…[Read more]

Oooh okay thank you! It’s hard to find reliable information on what and what not to feed… I didn’t buy any if the safe lettuce because the lady said it caused diarrhea … but I’ll try some cilantro and basil instead since she loves the parsley so much!
Is she okay to continue eating what I’m feeding her as I start introducing the other…[Read more]

I have a neutered 7 month old male and an un-neutered 4 month old male (who was supposedly a girl, haha) who have not yet met each other.
My problem is I am moving overseas in 4 weeks (second week of September/date not flexible) and wanted to bond them before moving because the country I am moving to has no rabbit rescues (if they hate each…[Read more]

@Louiethebunny Those are really helpful things to train a bunny to do! The circle thing is cute. 😊 He’s so smart! Thanks for the ideas. I’ll try to train mine to do things like that when they’re more comfortable with me. 🙂

Just an update. The buns are definitely stressed. Unfortunately the only way to get them out of their pens is to get a broom and kinda force them out. I could call them and give them a treat but I dont want them to associate being called as a bad thing and then not come to me when i need them to come (like putting them back in their pens after…[Read more]

Absolutely agree with the others. The risk of cancer is small. Neutering is more for behavioral issues. He may be a good boy now, but he would need to be neutered if you ever wanted to get him a friend.

Ah, this is helpful!
You should modify their set up so you do not need to handle them daily. This has likely set you back a lot with your bonding. So, this could mean moving their pen to be in the main room area where you spend the most time, giving them free-roam of a larger area, or spending more time in their area with them.
In terms of…[Read more]
