Is she eating, drinking and pooping like normal? If not, there could be a health problem that’s not directly related to the presence of the new bunny.
Introducing another rabbit into a household changes things. The rabbits dont even have to meet physically or even see each other, rabbits pick up on the scent of other rabbits. This will affect the…[Read more]

A little nibble likely won’t hurt anything. Do you pinch the ends together?

Update is they have found a mass or something between stomach / kidney. He’s being sent to specialist to see what type it is
Obviously worried has anyone experienced anything like this before for their bunny

Hi can someone help me so me and my partner got an 8 week old bunny and they’re in the same room one is 2 years old and one is 8 weeks old as I stated above but the 2 year old is free roam but we put the 8 week old in a play pen until he can be spayed etc, but my 2 year old bunny is acting really different since we got him and she sleeps in f…[Read more]

I think there was a miscommunication in the thread above. Bam was saying that motility meds shouldn’t be used if there is a blockage, but they are used for stasis. Sometimes a combination of multiple meds is needed . The two main motility meds are metaclopromide and cisapride, they affect different parts of the gut. It sounds like your bun is…[Read more]

Mine will usually eat a little of the toilet roll but not the whole thing. Ingesting some cardboard will not hurt a bun, so long as it’s not tons and tons and they still eat their hay. It’s all plant fiber, after all!

Is he still on the antibiotic? I’m wondering why he was put on it at all. Some non-rabbit savvy vets prescribe antibiotics for gut issues, but only when an infection is suspected. Usually the treatment for an obstruction is fluid therapy, motility meds, pain meds and syringe feeding. If he is still on the antibiotic I would personally be asking…[Read more]

So I think we will be making a trip to his vet tomorrow. Although he is eating veggies and gets excited to see me coming with them, I am not too thrilled about the fact that he is getting a wet tail/bottom and I’ve had to wash him and blow dry him several times today. Between that and the soft stools, I think it’s best that I take him in for a f…[Read more]

Ask them if iv fluid drip could be an option. In some countries vets can show pet owners how to gove subcutaneous fluids at home. Insome countries, this is prohibited.
Lactulose to increase the volume of the intestinal content is sometimes prescribed. If no obstruction is suspected, a gut motility drug like metoclopramide could potentially be a…[Read more]

Hi. This is helpful I am about to go see him as he’s staying in overnight. So I will talk to the vet. Soo far we’ve had 3 different people dealing.
they gave us pain relief meds and gut meds. But seeing you say that isn’t what should be used if it is GI stasis is concerning. Especially after first night stay they said he was clinically well and X…[Read more]

This reminds me a bit of my own bun. Is your rabbit vet rabbit savvy?
My bun had to be hospitalized f + 2 days. The resident vet managed to get us a consultation with a rabbit savvy vet, thank goodness. The rabbit savvy vet said there was a partial obstruction in the small intestine. Treatment was IV fluids (drip) and painkillers (novalgin).
We…[Read more]

Hi.
My rabbit Benny hasn’t been eating or doing the toilet for the last 2 + days now. We took him to the vet where he was kept in over night and they did X-rays. It showed no blockages or anything unusual. We took him home and he still wouldn’t eat or do any toilet. We’ve since took him back and the vet doesn’t actually know. They are going to…[Read more]

You could try while you’re monitoring him. If you see him starting to consume the toilet roll, you could abort mission, so to speak. I sometimes give my buns a toilet roll stuffed with hay and some pellets in the middle. They often chew some of the cardboard toilet roll, but they’re not devouring it.
