I think Pinky may be having some gas this morning. After I fed their veggies, I put Pinky’s pellets in the carrier so he would go in and I could clean his pen. The carrier was beside me as I was cleaning and I smelled a weird odour a couple times, not great smelling… It was brief each times so I thought maybe Pinky was farting ? I feed both b…[Read more]

Honestly I think a lot of people would have given up on her by now. Sad but true, she’s lucky to have you!

She is with you every moment of the day, just know that she is there. She is watching over you and wants to see you smile, so she knows that she can rest in peace, without the burden of the knowledge that you are grieving. You did everything you could, don’t feel as though someone else could have saved her. It hard, I know, to lose such a valued…[Read more]

Thank you ever so much for your help. It means a lot to me.
We have been to three different vets numerous times. Our next appointment to see our usual vet is on Friday, sadly they can’t get an appointment any sooner as they aren’t in until Friday. Seeing the same vet seems to help as we don’t have to start at square one.
She doesn’t have a…[Read more]

I’m doing my best but I felt like I must be doing something wrong, so I really appreciate your reassurance and help. It’s nice not to feel alone.
Thanks again

Oh wow I’m beyond grateful I read through this!!!
I have been giving my dog meloxicam for months for his arthritis and added CBD in the mix for pain relief (and gave Olive that combo yesterday as well)After clicking one of the links above and a quick google search Meloxicam should NOT be given with CBD!!! I had no clue! Both the dog and rabbit v…[Read more]

Well I’m so sorry but I’m not sure what to tell you and hopefully someone will more knowledge on how diet affects rabbit gassiness and overall gut health can weigh in. It sounds like you’ve been incredibly diligent about making sure you’re giving her a proper diet and trying your best to feed her the right things for her unique needs.

To your original question and spondylosis, some additional therapies that might help are cold laser therapy or even acupunture. It would be ideal if a practitioner could give the therapy in the home, so you can avoid stressing an animal taking them to a clinic. During a pandemic, home visit are obviously not an option! Or with cold laser, it wo…[Read more]

Yay Teddy! I hope this was just a short episode and he continues to improve. I was happy you reported some positives you were seeing with the CBD oil. As I was reading, I had wondered if it was something you could increase dose of after vet visits since they seem to stress him and prolong gi stasis. Then by the end of the thread I see you had to…[Read more]

I’ve been trying to find the courage to write here and to think about my bun. It really just is so sad, she had been with me for 8 years and to die of cancer, she went into progressive paralysis which was so fast, one day her legs started flaying, and next she couldn’t hold her head up, third day she was gone.
She was the sweetest bun, would run…[Read more]

Cannot for the life of me find one of these that isn’t from the UK! (I’m in the US.)
There have to be some that someone is making Stateside… right?
If someone can help, that would be rad! Tysm 🙂

It is quite possible… usually something like Zantac (ranitidine) is prescribed for long-term metacam use, to help prevent ulcers. This is currently of market but there are alternatives like famotidine and omperazole. If ulcers are present, another medication rather then a preventative may be needed.
The poops do look like they’re is a gut i…[Read more]

I’m concerned my rabbit gastrointestinal ulcers due to her symptoms of mucus with red(blood?) streaks in it. Could this be caused by years of taking metacam twice daily? Is this possible? Does anyone have experience with this?
She is straining to pass the mucus covered feces could this explain the red streaks in them?

That does not sound like a nice experience, to say the least. ☹ I hope you can call them and get a prescription for more meloxicam. They mustve made a mistake when they prescribed only 5 days worth.
I dont know if any vet would treat a true rabbit stroke with anything but simple blood thinning meds. Gina.Jenny, who I mentioned in my first post,…[Read more]

Her eye looks the same. I asked the vet to look at it the day she was spayed but I guess they forgot. I’ve tried to make another appointment but the rabbit vets are only there a few days a week and they’ve been booked up. But the vet didn’t seem too concerned so I’m ok waiting another month as long as she doesn’t have any other symptoms.

Thank you so much, Hazel!! 🙂
I’ll be sure to share what the vet says once I hear from her. Because we’re in the US, they can’t officially give any advice on CBD (apparently it’d have to be legalized at a federal level before the veterinary board would be able to incorporate it into standards of care) but I’m hoping to get at least some sort o…[Read more]

So cute! I love the pictures of her beds.
How’s her eye doing? I know there were some concerns with the uveitis and possibly EC.
