Bam, exactly what I going. Moshi has “acquired wet gut megacolon” (he clearly isn’t genetic EnEn lol; as messy and stinky as it can be at times, I’ll take the wet gut over dry gut any day!). Unfortunately, what works has to fine tuned for each individual bun. For Mosh, the solution has definitely been mega fiber! The diet that works for h…[Read more]

For anyone who follows me on Facebook, sorry for the double post…. but I’m copy/pasting to make my own life easier! 😛
“Bazil & I need your help!

You know when it’s dry, your nose bleeds? Or skin crack? Do rabbits do that too? What happens if they do?

Emelia7124 started the topic ❗Super serious question about bunny behavior❗ in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 6 years ago
Why is that? When she eats hay and I poke her face, she’d growl and bite my finger. But when I shove my face to her face when she eats, she doesn’t mind.
It’s almost like she KNOWS that eating my face would hurt me. Can anyone tell me why she does this?

JackRabbit could be on to sth here I think. It does look like fecal poop clad in a layer of cecal poop. Cecal poop has a very sticky film of mucus around it.
The fine-tuned assortment process in the bunny gun, where the material that’s going to become cecotropes is actually sent backwards for bit, can sometimes malfunction in a rabbit. The…[Read more]

LBJ, MB is so petite! The first time she sent me a pic I couldn’t figure out if he was just huge or she was teeny tiny but then she sent me a pic of Gus in the car with her dog and they were pretty close to the same size lol

Jade those poops are a mix of cecotrophs and regular poop. Mucus is a sign of irritation in the intestines. The shape and length suggests that your bun is having intermittent gut slow down. What breed and color is your bun? Can you post a pic please?

Hey Moonlight and Louiethebunny, I just made a new post about a dark nail trim trick (works for any color nails!)

I am such a wuss when it comes to nail trims so I had almost always either taken the buns to the vet for nail trims or had the vet tech come to my house and do them. With the whole COVID thing, I had to start doing them myself. Anyone who has ever had a bun with black nails knows the fear in this and all three of mine have dark nails (I swear M…[Read more]

If the skin is broken, she should definitely be evaluated by a vet as those situations can escalate into bone issues very quickly. They will be able to give you Silvadene if it’s that extensive. If the skin is not broken, bag balm is always a good safe solution as well!
What kind of flooring is she currently on?

LBJ — Did you ever see a pic of MB holding Gus?! I think she has a need for a bun that’s bigger than she is and Andre just might make it lol!

Ooh, lucky, your bun has easy to see nails. Those with dark nails cause more time worrying about cutting the quik, but you can see it very clearly on your bun. I’ve already cut both my rabbits nails a few times, I try to get pretty close to the quik, and then if they’ll take it I file them down to make em less sharp. They get a little squirmy so…[Read more]
