Sounds like a good plan. If things get bad again without any potential dietary causes, that would be my next move. The back molars also really aren’t visible without anesthesia (28 teeth in that tiny mouth!!), so sometimes there could be problems in the back that you can’t see.

If my memory is correct, I believe Bernards droppings have been different sizes since I’ve had her (3 months). I thought that was normal until I seen some pictures online of Megacolon droppings. I might just be paranoid, but Bernards droppings look a lot like those pictures. Of course, I know there are probably other explanations so I just w…[Read more]

She could be a false Charlie too. It’s hard to tell, especially with her coloring being so light. I wouldn’t be too worried though. Not all (many argue most) will not develop megacolon. And those that do have it will start showing signs when they are young and it gradually gets worse as they age.

Oh wow. She had the spurs before she had all of these issues but I will definitely keep this in mind, she is due a health check soon anyway so I will ask the vet to check her teeth, thank you for this information 🙂

I think I got mine on Amazon as well. I have some that are just super simple, and have another set that is like these stacking rings that are also kind of a cup (if that makes sense?) that are pretty fun for them as well!

Sounds like a normal early date to me! I would try to do the same type of date a few times in a row, and set a short time goal (say like 5-15 minutes depending on how long the last date was).

I usually try to repeat a date a few times to see if they make progress. If after several dates things seem to be getting worse, then I change up the set-up…[Read more]

That’s great news and very interesting! It makes me wonder if the cisapride was contributing to the issues in my foster bun’s case….!

Ok, just do make sure she has food available on the journey, whether that be hay cubes or whatever pellet is making up the bulk of her diet currently.

It does look a little uncomfortable, but that first pic could also be just before he was about to eat a cecal or groom.

Can you give a tummy rub? You can also try baby gas drops (simethicone).

Also, sometimes during the day I absolutely convince myself that Bun Jovi is in pain, and turns out he is just sleepy. If you offer a big of veg and he…[Read more]

Sometimes the spurs can be bothering them enough to cause problems, even if there is no visible irritation. I recall one bun on this forum that would have issues with even the tiniest spur formation.

What was her diagnosis? And what are all of her meds?

Can you get a second opinion from another vet?

Eating inedible things like that is called “pica”. Apparently in rabbits it can be a symptom of enteritis: https://rabbit.org/journal/2-5/enteritis.html

My approach has always been have a syringe handy to force feed a bit of water during the car ride, just to make sure they aren’t overly parched. I think most rabbits don’t like eating or doing much of anything during a car ride.

Its not an issue unless you start to see lots of them, or if he gets cecos stuck to his butt.

Hmmm, normally I would say he is just relaxing, my girls will do that position sometimes, but you can tell it is because they are content. Tooth-grinding is a turning point though. Is he still in those positions, or was it just for a little bit? Gas could be causing him pain. If it was only for a little while though, I wouldn’t be worried. Maybe…[Read more]

I think that is a great idea. 😀 I am currently bonding my three ladies, and I do a little bonding session with each of them individually then I put them all together. It works great, for two of them were picking on poor Smokey, now they are getting along much better. It is very encouraging how they like to hang out around him too, I have a…[Read more]
