I think it’s normal and honestly a very good sign that you will be a great bunny parent. ๐Ÿ™‚

Once you learn her mannerisms and ways you will worry less. A big part of detecting problems is knowing what is normal for your bun, so at first it’s natural to worry a lot because you don’t know what “normal” is yet. For example, Bun Jovi HATES being…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Time Eating Hay A Day in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago

The rule of thumb is that a bun should spend at least 4 hours a day chewing hay. So for a bun only getting hay, 9-10 hours doesn’t seem too crazy to me.

    Are you tracking his weight?

DanaNM replied to the topic At home sanitary shave? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago

I agree that I would prob wait for the vet to show you, especially since your bun is hard to handle. A bum bath or a cornstarch bath would be a much safer approach. Usually ongoing sanitary shaves are only done on buns that are incontinent due to illness or injury. Fixing her litter box set-up is more important that the shave.

DanaNM replied to the topic Bladder sludge?? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago

Was it actually sludgey? Like was it a thick paste with white calcium particles in it? Do you notice her straining to urinate? If you remove the bedding from her litter box temporarily and just put a layer of hay in it, you can get a better look at her urine out put to see if there is more evidence of sludge.

Some calcium in the urine is not a…[Read more]

If you can keep him more upright that will prevent him from trancing.

The first two look comfy. The second one can vary a bit. There is a subtle difference between a bun-loaf (comfy) and a hunched-in-pain type loaf. In the hunched position, sometimes it looks like they are tense and pushing their tummy into the ground. To me it looks more comfy? Myra will often sleep in that type of position.

I think since she is…[Read more]

Iโ€™m questioning if I should even give him a third dose tonight. It stresses him out a lot and heโ€™s eating some hay now. I should probably give him the last dose to be safe, itโ€™s just difficult for the both of us. Itโ€™s been a rough day. ):

Those seeds look like hay seeds, from the bigger seed stalks in the hay, if you know what I’m talking about? Maybe Pinky was eating one over top of his poops, and spilled some seeds as he was eating? That happens to my bun all the time, makes quite a mess!! ๐Ÿ˜† Have you tried opening the poops (I know, sounds gross) but this way you can see if…[Read more]

Rainn started the topic Bladder sludge?? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years ago

Hello, today I noticed that Rain urinated in my bathroom which she never does. It wasn’t normal either, it was thicker and browner which makes me think of bladder sludge. The issue is that I canโ€™t take her to a vet, my parents are very strict about adhering to social distancing policies. Itโ€™s seriously not possible to convince them otherwise, Iโ€™v…[Read more]

Thank you! I can try to do that for the last dose of today. I just did the second dose. I think he swallowed it all, he ate a couple pellets I gave him as a treat after. Then I pet him for a few minutes and he calmed down. And Iโ€™m pretty sure he was passing gas because I could smell something weird coming from him.

Itโ€™s really hard to get him in…[Read more]

I do have a spray hose for wetting the clothes, so I can mist myself if absolutely necessary. Not very dignified, but what can you do… ๐Ÿ™„ย  My coworker has this nifty little fan that you hang around your neck, I might have to get one of those. ๐Ÿ˜†

Hold up HipHop, you’re not saying you actually have a turtle, right?!

Don’t feel bad, you’re doing what’s best for him. If you have to do it by yourself, try kneeling on the ground and box him in between your legs and then hold his head while squeezing it into his mouth. Make sure to go slow so he doesn’t choke. If he refuses to swallow, take the syringe out, then give some more after he got it down. Afterwards I…[Read more]

Muchelle: Really? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ In that picture of them, they looked like they could run a mile and not break a sweat! ๐Ÿ˜› Yes, you could walk them on a leash to the store to teach them the directions! ๐Ÿ˜‰ (I love that idea…sadly my turtle is a bit too small to be walked on a leash, haha. )

It’s completely normal. ๐Ÿ™‚ We all have had first-time parent worries, it’s natural. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Your girl seems very healthy and happy, I’m sure that there is nothing wrong going on inside her body. ๐Ÿ™‚ Like Muchelle said though, if you have a health concern, it is great to make a post, you may not need it, but no bit of knowledge is ever wasted. :-)…[Read more]

Itโ€™s not so much pawing at her mouth as it is scratching with her back feet. The rescue said sheโ€™s a grazer with her veggies.

Also are these comfy positions or pain positions?

I gave him 0.5ml. He pulled his head away when I tried to give it without holding him. So I tried to push him onto a blanket I could wrap him in but he ran away and went over to Muffin. I didnโ€™t want any biting so I had to take him away over to the spot I was trying to give him it. He was kicking 😭. I put a blanket on his whole body and covered h…[Read more]

I haven’t used that brand, but as far as I can tell they should be fine. He doesn’t have to have food with it. I use one with 20mg of Simethicone and give 1ml at a time.
