He went to vet yesterday because he stopped eating overnight; no stasis. They just said he probably just doesn’t feel well, like a really bad whole head sinus infection. He is actually fairly active, even when he stopped eating; he probably exercises as much as pre-crisis.
Because it’s a breathing issue, I was told not to force feed. I do leave…[Read more]

Hmm… that’s interesting. I have heard pain-related tooth grinding and “I’m frustrated” tooth grind (that’s a single, deliberate grind)… but this seems different. You could be right though, different bunnies might just sound different.
Have you been regularly supplementing with CC? You mentioned he will eat it.

Ok, they said it’s not pain grind and nothing found wrong with teeth. Just uncomfortable :/
Still not eating much even though he’s actually pretty active. He’s lost quite a bit of weight since crisis started 2 weeks ago.

I’ve only been in Hobby Lobby once, but I saw a fabric department. I just checked their website and they have fleece by the yard. It looks like it starts at $4.19 a yard, with various prices above that. I don’t know if they have any in the stores or it’s online ordering only. https://www.hobbylobby.com/search?query=fleece%20fabric&pageType=products

Oh, try again?
He’s on Buprenex.

I would keep going with the longer sessions, the fact that they eventually relax around each other is a very good sign. I would try to ease off the petting now if you can, especially once you get into the session and they’ve calmed down.
I would try to block out some time to do some very long sessions, like 6-8 hours if you can. It sounds like…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁
I agree with LBJ10. Rabbits can have many things happen as they age, including heart attack and stroke. It sounds like she had a wonderful life with a bonded friend and it was just her time to go. Even though rabbits can live to be 12 and up, 9 is still a very old age for a bunny.

Hi mia,
I tried to watch the video but it was set to private.
Is he on tramadol? My senior did well on it but I still had to supplement him with Emeraid daily. It did take a bit of an adjustment. If my memory is correct we did tramadol once per day and meloxicam twice per day, spaced out so the tramadol was in between the meloxicam doses. I…[Read more]

I can’t tell what this noise is coming from ElderBun. I have heard other buns teeth grind and it’s not like this but I’m also not sure and scared because of everything else that’s going on with him and he’s much tinier/weaker (always have been) so am open to his sounds being different. He does this whether on the opioid or not. Even when eating,…[Read more]

Oh no! That’s terrible! I’ll have to stock up.
Ikea carries a large fleece blanket that’s very cheap! It’s a bit thinner than the fabric at Joann but that’s what I used to order when I didn’t leave near to a Joann.

Yes, flat polyester sheets but I just search flat fleece sheets as polyester may be some extremely thin ones.

I have a stuffed animal in each of their pens and I swap them everyday, they both groom the stuffed animal. I tried to add a stuffed animal to a bonding session and they would both groom it, kind of like to “claim” it which I don’t know if is good so I didn’t include it anymore.
I used to sit with them on the floor during bonding sessions but I…[Read more]

I’m still working on the bonding, but I’m still not really seeing much progress. I realized that those nips are mostly bites and some nips. But I can’t ever anticipate it happening! It just comes out of nowhere and there isn’t any ears pulling back or other body language change. So I used to just pet them immediately when she approaches him…[Read more]

No, I haven’t tried any thrift stores… although I would say we don’t have the best thrift stores around here. I’ll keep that in mind.
Flat sheets that are made of polyester?

It’s normal for rabbits to want to distance themselves from a sick rabbit. A sick or injured rabbit is a risk for all the buns in a group bc predators have a very good eye for weakness.
A bonded couple often stick together when one of them gets sick, but that’s not a given. The healthy bun might very well attack the poorly bun.
So your buns are…[Read more]

In the chaos of ElderBun’s condition, instead of taking care of him in any way, the two have decided to be pals and today, flopped closely across from each other sharing a lettuce. Then I come back from picking up ElderBun’s meds and they’re flopped closely across from each other grooming each other.
I feel like all my buns have only been in…[Read more]

Sometimes during cooler months, I have seen various stores like Walmart and Kroger (grocery chain) have cheap fleece throw blankets (50″ x 60″ usually) for around $4 a piece. I have used these for the buns before.
If they have the stores in your area, there is a place called Ollie’s Bargain Outlet that sells a variety of bedding. They usually…[Read more]

Haha! I have to strategically place tiles to prevent any additional destruction. He likes to make a hole here and a hole there… then the connect them.
Thank you, I will keep looking. I’m thinking I may need to resort to buying cheap twin sized fleece blankets.

mia replied to the topic Fleece in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 7 months, 3 weeks ago
I’ve bought twin and full sized fleece blankets. They are a lot thicker. The problem is cleaning and washing them all the time.
My girl destroys all. She helps me make use of my delivery boxes. I cut the cardboard and place over the random holes she makes as well as the seams. Then strategically place their furniture on top of the cardboard.
