Rabbits will ingest some hair when they clean themselves, and since they cant vomit, the hair has to go out the other way. This is normal and won’t cause trouble in a healthy rabbit, if there is sufficient fiber in the diet. It is very good to brush (and lint roll) your bun, but its not possible to catch all hairs.

I assumed they were in some kind of temporary enclosure in the photos since you either hadn’t brought them home yet or you had just brought them home.

A bunch of the poops have little pieces of fur in them. Haven’t gotten the β€œstring of pearls” yet though lol. I brush him but I guess he still ingests some fur but I figure it’s good that he’s pooping it out

LBJ10 replied to the topic Clarification on the safety of pine wood in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 11 months ago

Kiln-dried is fine. Pine wood isn’t toxic per say. It’s the phenols that are released into the air when “fresh” wood is shaved, etc. Long term exposure of pine shavings, for example, is harmful. Kiln-dried pine pellet litter, on the other hand, isn’t harmful.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Sore hocks in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 11 months ago

It isn’t unusual for rex bunnies to have wear on their hocks. The fur will thin there and callouses will eventually develop. As long as they are just callouses and not open sores, then I wouldn’t be too worried. You can put some bag balm or similar on it if you think it’s irritated.

He is a Holland Lop and should only get to 3.5 lbs max. He has been trying to excape the walls I built with cardboard boxes.

I am looking into getting a couple extra X-pens to section of a big space of our basement for me to let him out of the smaller space so he can run more. So I am looking at getting it very soon.

    I think I will just go…[Read more]

It might be a good idea to get one with a door in front and on top. You can do what you’re going to try to do and train them to go in, but the top door can be easier to use in the event of an emergency where you need to get a sick and uncooperative rabbit to the vet or something.

Yeah that totally makes sense, I think that is what is going on here as well that this didn’t come out fully until the other happened. In july he had some sneezing/conjunctivitus which Amoxicillian liquid form was prescribed for Milo, he took two rounds and that seemed to clear it up for the most part. His left eye would still have some light…[Read more]

It really does depend on the bun. Some people can get away with a 2 foot high pen, while others have to cover their 4 foot pen to be safe. My girl is perfectly fine with a 42 inch pen, but I feel like we’d be able to pull off a 3 foot pen with no issues. It comes down to many factors including, age, breed, size, energy levels and even if there’s…[Read more]

I believe it is. Also, if he has been eating/chewing them for a while and they haven’t caused ill effects, that can serve as good evidence that it’s probably OK too. I feel like if it was toxic, you might have seen ill-effects by now? Though I’m not a vet nor know how much your rabbit eats upon chewing.
