So last night I had my rabbits in my room and took them back outside to their cage and made sure all the doors were locked. I wake up this morning to find out that the door to that cage was open and one of them escaped. I think I either didn’t lock it properly or a cat opened it. my dog chased her under the pergola (the pergola is really big) b…[Read more]

I second the post above – Benjamin always has a very slight head tilt to the left even a year after treatment. This second EC flair his head tilt became even more prominent during treatment but a couple of weeks into the panacur course his head tilt went back to his regular slightly-tilted manner. We’re still working on getting his weight and…[Read more]

It can take several weeks to see improvements in some cases. Adding an anti-inflammatory such as metacam can help with symptoms in the early phases of treatment.
If it makes you feel better, in some places people will treat all of their rabbits preventatively with Panacur whenever they introduce a new rabbit to the “herd”. My bun would eat his…[Read more]

Just gave Winnie her first dose and had the scare of a lifetime right before as she almost chocked to death on pellets. She’s ok now but I got so scared that it was a sign to not go through with treatment. Anyway, her dose is 0.34 ml every 24 hours and they gave me nothing else, just the panacur. I’m watching her now and shes just eating normally,…[Read more]

I dont think you need to worry as long as the dosage and duration of treatment is right. Dosage for e cuniculi is 20 mg per kilo body weight per day, for 28 days. Panacur 10% fenbendazole contains 100 mg per ml.
Non-rabbit vets are as a rule not very rabbit savvy. And rabbit savvy vets are few and far between.

Honestly i’m not too sure, my vet doesn’t seem very knowledgeable on rabbits. I know they do get rabbits but i’m not sure to what extent they’re knowledgeable. The fact that they don’t want to treat Winnie on suspicion is what rubs me the wrong way. Today i’m finally going to pick up the panacur to start the 28 days, and they’ve reminded me…[Read more]

In my experience, rabbits become more attached to the person who gives them meds, not less – even if the experience with the meds is very unpleasant. There can be individual exceptions to this of course.
The idea you had with applying the gel on the other’s buns head could perhaps work, esp if you mix it with a tiny little bit of mashed banana?…[Read more]

I agree. This sounds like hormone-driven behavior. If he isn’t neutered, then I would consider this normal. Something probably triggered him to start trying to claim you and your bed. This can happen for seemingly no reason, but I’m sure there is probably something going on in their little bunny brain. Has anything changed in your house? New…[Read more]

Oh yes, I had a bun that did that! He’d relax so completely, especially in my mum’s lap. And then he’d just pee 😄

Aww. I had a bun who’d pee on me when he got “too comfortable” in my arms, just as when he got nice and comfortable in his soft bed.

Took me nearly an hour to administer just two meds to her. I just smeared probiotic gel on her mouth chin area a tiny bit at a time… That little head goes this way, that way, swoosh swoosh quickly, smack me in head several times. And quick jumps up my chest that I have to dodge.
She does not like burrito. She isn’t squirmy at all normally and…[Read more]

He is not peeing on you because he’s mad at you. When a bun pees on the human it is a form of courtship or claiming. The frenzied digging is connected to this, the peeing is not bc he’s angry.
Is your rabbit neutered? Sexually driven behaviors can occur in neutered animals as well as in intact individuals, but in an intact rabbit the behaviors…[Read more]
