Okay so we’re going to start fostering him soon! The rescue is actually foster based so he’s been in foster homes his whole life (he was born into the rescue). Poor guys still hasn’t been adopted, likely because the rescue is quite small and had 2 other litters around the same time, which means there was a lot of baby buns. Here are some pics…[Read more]

I think the most important thing is to teach them not to chase or grab him. At that age (boys especially, depending on the boys…) they might have a hard time accepting that Buddy may not want to be near them or accept pets.
I think it best would be have them sit down in his exercise area and hand-feed some veggies (long stems if he ever nips on…[Read more]

So, my sister and her 2 boys (6 and 5) are coming to stay with us for a while. They are very excited about meeting Buddy. What are you tips for kids being around my 3 month old bunny? I probably know the basics but give me all you got with your experiences, please and thank you! 🤷🏼♀️😬🙂

Thank you so much for your explanations! It all helped a lot.
What kind of treats do you give? – I was told not to give him any veggies until 6 months (he is 11 weeks right now).
Also, I forgot to mention the age before does that change a bit of his ability to adapt? I still have the chance to effect how his personality ends up, at least a little?

DanaNM replied to the topic Why is my Medically Healthy Rabbit not Eating or Pooping? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 10 months ago
I’m so happy to hear she is doing well!
Regarding grooming, I would experiment with different types of brushes. My bunnies all have ones they tolerate and ones they hate. Myra gets soooo annoyed with me when she’s molting, but she gets over it ones the heavy shed is done.
The fur-buster comb works very well on most fur types. I also really like…[Read more]

Glad to hear Hunny is doing better. Do they feel like the medications are shrinking the abscess?
Hmm… would one of those grooming gloves help?
And, since she is eating shredded veggies, will she eat fresh grass? Like wheat grass, you can buy it at the pet store as “cat grass” or grow it yourself.

My sincerest apologies for the late response:
Hunny is doing very well despite the abscess. She does not seem to be in any significant pain; she is frisky, affectionate, eating diced greens and soaked pellets, and pooping normally. To an outsider, she’d seem completely healthy. Hunny is on gabapentin and meloxicam to manage discomfort and takes…[Read more]

I agree with Prince Dorian. You can work on getting a bunny to tolerate being picked up by starting small and giving a reward. But you can’t teach them to be cuddly and most bunnies will not be tolerate being held for long, even if you do work with them on it. I only did this with mine because I wanted to be able to pick them up without it being a…[Read more]

Thank you for those links, Bam, the one which tells you what to give, how to give and how to be in yourself worked a treat, I think a lot of it was me to desperate to get the cc down her, instead now her last feed was calm, started with a drink first ( via syringe) a fuss and cuddle then some cc and cuddles and that’s how we got through it, so…[Read more]

I have a neutered bun, and I have to pen my couch. I keep trying to re-introduce it as it would make life easier, but so far he just seems to go crazy on there. He is fine on arm chair and bed, I have tried all the advice I read here and elsewhere. If I ever figure it out I will be happy share, but just letting you know it may just be your couch…[Read more]
