I also never heard of that! One of my rabbits won’t eat her veggies unless there’s pellets, haha

Bu20055 started the topic Anyone know where to get nose guards in Canada? in the forum HABITATS AND TOYS 5 years, 11 months ago
Hey guys! We just brought home our new bun, Blaze, and Esther is being quite territorial and trying to nip through the the pen. Right now I have a little fence up on the outside of the pen, and I’m monitoring out times, but I’d like to get some nose guards to be safer and easier. Anyone know where to get them in canada?

Does she have a lot of good stuff to chew on? Like cardboard and apple sticks and bunny safe wood toys? They love chewing, so if she doesn’t have a lot of chew toys try getting her some.

Thanks everyone. This morning she seems fine. I do appreciate the reassurance!

I’ve never heard that. I have 3 buns and we’ve had stasis 4 times. There is only one time that I can’t definitively point to someone having eaten something inappropriate as the cause, so as far as I can tell it isn’t harming them. I feed each full sized bun 1/8 cup pellets twice a day and my little guy gets half that. They get their salads at the…[Read more]

Btw I feed them just in the morning. But hay all the time of course.

I’ve heard that you shouldn’t feed veggies and pellets at the same time because the pellets will mess with digestion. They say you should feed one in the morning and the other at night. Is this true? I’ve been feeding my bunnies veggies first, then when they’re done I’ll give them the pellets. Then they only get hay for the rest of the day and a…[Read more]

Hi and welcome back ☺
I would try softer hay. Its good that you have meloxicam. There are no special things to do post a molar trimming, but how soon the rabbit returns to normal is highly individual. Is he eating other food than hay?

Thanks Joon. We have talked about moving and we probably will in the next year or two. For now I think we’ve got it sorted out, the rabbits have about half the room (a little more than half really) to run around in, and they get regular supervised playtime in the whole house. I’m also going to give further litter training another try. They really…[Read more]

Hello everyone! BB8 recently had his molars trimmed(on the 21st) and he’s been doing well but he hasn’t been eating as much hay now than as he did before the procedure. The second day he came home he started to act normally and eat everything else with his normal gusto except his hay. He does eat hay but only small amounts. I called the vet’s…[Read more]

No, that’s definitely not normal. He might have been injured or maybe he’s sick? He needs to go to a vet.
I also just wanted to say that bathing a rabbit should be a last resort. They can get hypothermia and even if they don’t, bathing them causes a lot of stress. Always try using pet or baby wipes to clean them.
Sorry this ended up being a…[Read more]

shasbun replied to the topic rabbit peeing on soft things in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 11 months ago
No, I don’t think it’s normal for rabbits to be peeing so much, but how frequently they pee depends a lot on the bun. As long as everything else is normal, don’t worry too much about it. And yes, if you want to, you can remove the soft things. If you really feel like he needs something soft, then maybe you could try soft bedding like CareFresh.…[Read more]

Chances are she’ll be fine. Just closely monitor her for the next few hours and make sure she’s acting normally.

Their setup looks great to me! Don’t be too harsh on yourself. You said that you’ve seen them binky and zoomie in there, which means they’re really happy. Plus they’re getting free roam time in the living room, so they should be fine.

Cashmere lops aren’t recognized in the US. I think it’s a UK breed. They do not have the wool gene. They have long silky outer hairs and a shorted undercoat. Are trying to keep the fur from getting tangled? Or is she actually shedding?
Hmm… wasn’t it Sonn that had a lop bunny with longer fur that would become matted in like 2 seconds?

LBJ10 replied to the topic 7 month year old English Angora Hates being brushed in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 11 months ago
I’m assuming he’s an English angora then? They don’t have guard hairs, so their fur is difficult to brush through. You might try a hairbuster comb, but I think most people just keep them clipped.
Have you tried placing him in an “unfamiliar” place? On your lap? On a high surface? Sometimes it’s easier when they see they can’t simply run away.
