Hey guys! We just brought home our new bun, Blaze, and Esther is being quite territorial and trying to nip through the the pen. Right now I have a little fence up on the outside of the pen, and I’m monitoring out times, but I’d like to get some nose guards to be safer and easier. Anyone know where to get them in canada?

I’m not sure about the nose guard panels, but if you aren’t able to find them you can also use small mesh (1/4″) hardware cloth. It doesn’t look as nice but does the job.

Okay thanks. So 1/4 inch is small enough to protect from nipping?

Also what alternatives are there to zip ties? Esther tries to chew zip ties when she has access to them.

                1/4″ is small enough.

You can get metal cable ties at the hardware store, or you could also use some thin wire, as long as you were careful to have the ends out of reach.

Okay thanks. How do I make the edges of the mesh not sharp? How high up on the pen do you think I should cover?

Maybe cover the edges with something, and probably as high as the bunnies can reach their noses lol. When they stand up they can be surprisingly tall.

I think lil Blaze can only reach barely a little more than a foot, but I think Esther could possibly reach a little less than 2 feet. I was thinking about covering it with something, but im not sure what, because Esther does like to chew

When I used hardware cloth I used pliers to bend the edges in so they weren’t sharp. It was pretty time consuming and fiddly (which is why I was so excited about the “nose guards” LOL).

The hardware cloth roll I got was actually the same width as my x-pen was high, so I just used the whole roll to line the x-pen. Then I only had to worry about the edges where I cut it.
