Oh i forgot to add i usually get fresh grass from a mixed grass field including many types of fresh grass (one being timothy hay) in the spring and summer as a supplement to her hay but i never thought to cut extra for the winter- I should definitely do that next year.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Thank you for your suggestions! I will definitely try to grab some fennel from the shop and incorporate it into her diet.</p>
Also drying her food is a really good idea- i never thought about that. I usually give her a small amount than a normal rabbit would be given and its usually a salad mix including safe veggies…[Read more] -

I second the fennel and mint recommendation! I had a bun with a difficult tummy, his favorite veg was herb fennel and when he had a tummy upset, dried mint (from all mint teabags) was one of the few things he’d eat willingly.
For some reason, buns with a sensitive stomach tend to tolerate dry herbs and veg better than fresh. You can dry most…[Read more]

Thank you! I will definitely try some herb mixes- i gave her some dandelion leaves today and she seems to be doing fine right now (thank goodness) I will definitely try some of these suggestions and see if it helps her. Thank you so much for responding 😊

I asked the other forum moderators about flushing the bowels out. It’s not a recognized bunny medical term, so its a bit unclear what your vet means. An enema, perhaps?
Since she is producing poop, albeit of varying consistency, shape and smell, an enema wouldnt do much good. The best things for flushing a rabbit’s bowels is fiber and water, i e…[Read more]

Maybe some dried herbs? Certain herbs are thought to help gas, such as fennel and mint. They would be nice and fragrant and probably very enriching. 🙂 A small amount of oat hay might also be nice and agree with her tummy.
There was recently a virtual house rabbit society conference and there was a vet there saying they have been seeing really…[Read more]

@floridabun any updates on your situation?
My rabbit Ollie had a ringworm/fungal infection on & between the neck and ear area earlier this year. If you’re still dealing with it or looking for any advice I am happy to help. Ollie was prescribed miconazole cream at first as well, but we found that the cream alone wasn’t enough, and seemed to…[Read more]

Hi i have a chincilla, angora cross 11 month old bunny called Liliana. In the past she’s had gas and a couple of times GI statis. Each time the cause is gas and i always avoid the gas promoting foods and make sure she eats extra 1rst Cut Timothy hay. However, I’d still like to treat her to something and I’ve cut out pellets from her diet which is…[Read more]

That’s very odd!
Are you allergic to anything else? Because of the timing with the vet, I’m wondering if maybe the vet’s office had traces of something that transferred to him while they were examining him? Like maybe even the type of hand sanitizer they use, or latex gloves, etc? If hydrocortisone or an antihistamine helps that would suggest i…[Read more]

I’m hoping it’ll clear up on its own especially since it’s never happened to me before.
And when I say break out, I’ll describe it as more of a rash. It’s not red or irritated, but it’s extra bumpy and extremely dry. It happened practically over night, so that’s what I’m worried about!

Well it’s 1.15 am and she’s just had her last 2 hourly feed…i worm out so I know she must be ! Or at least fed up with me pestering her, every time she hears/sees me setting up up the different things we’re going to need she must think ‘oh no here she comes again’ and starts hoping from one litter tray to the other but once I’ve picked her…[Read more]

It looks like there has been moisture there for awhile since the fur came off like that. Any other symptoms? Sneezing, etc.? If there are no other symptoms, then it may be something simple like a blocked tear duct. A warm compress might help, but a vet may need to irrigate it. I wouldn’t consider this an emergency, but you don’t want this to…[Read more]

I’m allergic to rabbits. Hahaha! And yes, it is most definitely a rabbit allergy… tests confirmed it. The miracle of allergy shots, right? Anyway, I don’t think I will be of much help here.
So when you say break out, do you mean acne or a rash? I will sometimes get a rash, but it isn’t consistent. I’m not sure why that is… perhaps it’s…[Read more]

I have a similar experience, and it tends to come and go. Some days all it takes is a lick on the face, other days nothing happens. I am also someone who fluctuates when dog and cat saliva irritate my skin as well, so it could be something that resolves on its own.
