My youngin’ who is now 1.5y/o likes to overgroom/aggressively overgroom.
Previously, she did this to SickBun and he eventually had large open wounds. Eventually I separated him and she seemed to stop this behavior (she still lived with ElderBun). As SickBun was chronically and got progressively worse around that time. I thought this was because…[Read more]

Okay, thank you! He is getting a dose of his antibiotics twice a day. Should I give him a dose of probiotics twice a day too during the course of the antibiotics?

If you need other probiotics to explore…
My vets has prescribed Probios equine gel before. Vet has also mentioned HeathyGut Probiotics for Rabbits. Both can be obtained OTC e.g.Chewy and Amazon has them. My buns are on antibiotics and I was told to also give them probiotics everyday. I can’t separate the meds since one is extremely difficult so…[Read more]

It is a good idea to give Benebac when a bun is on antibiotics, but it’s even more important to give it after the course of antibiotics is over, because that’s when the gut is trying to re-establish a healthy gut microbiota.
Dont give probiotics at the same time as the antibiotics, wait a few hours.

Thank you all for the replies!! He had a really horrible pile of poop (looked like a splat) a few days ago and it’s been a while since the last time that happened. He had that after his surgery and his poops would be perfect for a day after the bad pile, and then they would get bad again and it would be a whole cycle.
Right after his bad pile…[Read more]

Thanks! I think that’s what I’m going to do. They can still enjoy their time side-by-side for now and we’ll resume full bonding after the trip.

Yes I know isn’t poop I meant i had found with her poop but I thought she may have been pregnant from seeing the male bunnie mating with her and how she had been acting lately.

That’s not poop. From the pictures, it looks like it came from her uterus. You say you thought she may have been pregnant?

I also find that strange. I had to do nail trims at the vet for years and indeed she weighed and examined teeth and ears every single time but only charged me $20 per bun.
Is there someone besides your sister who you might be able to lean on for help?

Yes, they have several hides and tunnels. Erebus has an enclosure in his his enclosure that is private and separate and entirely his own that the cats are not allowed to go inside at all. There are also two small regular tunnels (one was originally a cat tunnel but one is brand new so they all got to play with it at once), one “donut” style tunnel…[Read more]

I re-read this part after seeing @pinkimarie’s comment: “Brick, being a cat, loves boxes. Last night, Brick chose to sit in a box and Erebus took this opportunity to get in Brick’s face. Brick raised a paw at him and kind of batted him gently and at first, Erebus backed off, but very quickly the whole thing escalated and soon Erebus was f…[Read more]

Your comment also made me wonder, does the bun have a box or something that be can actually hide in? Most cages and x pens are see through so if he doesn’t have something to hide in he would definitely appreciate getting something, even something simple like a cardboard box.

@pinkiemarie Ideally cecotropes if you can get em! The reasoning was if the bun already lived with other buns it would have already been exposed to any parasites they might have, so it’s pretty safe to try. Another vet I had reasoned that they also would have already been exposed to the healthy bun’s gut flora, but I still think it could be worth…[Read more]

Thank you for reading it at all! Any input is welcome, so that is good to know! I forgot mention all of the animals in my house are fixed for whatever gender they are as well and are well past the age of maturity, so I don’t think it’s that either.
The cats do have a cat safe room, two actually if you count the room where their boxes are and also…[Read more]

@benjaminbinky I have a bun with terrible dysboisis, almost everything gives him icky poos. I feed him a timothy pellet by Exotic Nutrition with literally only timothy hay as the only ingredient. It isn’t 100% ideal because there is nothing else in it to ensure proper micronutrients but I wonder if adding that to his diet might help. For my bun it…[Read more]

2 of my rabbits also charge my cats. I think that’s pretty normal and most likely they do it because they can sense that the cat is a predator and they’re letting the cat know that they don’t want to be prey. I could be wrong on the reasons but I’ve seen that behavior myself many times. A long as the cat does not turn to attack the bunny it should…[Read more]
