Thank you for your replies, around 2 months ago he stopped eating so we took him to the vets he had some injections and picked back up but has always been on the skinny side compared to his brother so maybe that has something to do with it, just so heartbreaking with his age and circumstances 😟 we’ve got our other bun in our room tonight as h…[Read more]

Late to this thread, but we built our condo upper levels with plywood supported by more cube grid things, and zip ties. No additional wood support needed. Ours are 3wx2dx3h,a bigger setup might need additional support.
We also built “trays” for the whole bottom floor so that I could lift out the entire condo for deep cleaning the litter box level…[Read more]

Thank you for sharing about Bunston.
You’re right, 8 is good long life too and I keep trying to remind myself of that. Sometimes it just feels so surreal that Chester is still here and kicking (he’s around 14, we aren’t sure his exact age) and she’s gone. Over the last year I have been preparing myself for the possibility of him going (as I…[Read more]

I agree with Dana. The best thing you can do is go back to litter training 101. And yes, I would look into seeing if she has some arthritis developing. Something as simple as a litter box that is low on one side may help.

I’m very sorry for your loss. 🙁 Sometimes when something very serious is wrong in rabbits, it presents like stasis (as stasis is really a symptom rather than an illness itself), but then it progresses very rapidly. She was a beautiful bun.<3
So please don’t beat yourself up. As much as we all expect and hope our rabbits live to 15, 8 is an old…[Read more]

I agree that it just sounds like things are moving too fast. Are you doing their sessions in neutral territory? If they are doing well in one space, you should spend a lot more time in that space to “cement” the relationship (usually 24-48 hours of positive behaviors with no scuffling or fur pulling). To get a bit more info, there is a “bonding…[Read more]

Can you describe her cage set-up in a bit more detail?
Some bunnies really can’t have any soft things at all in their pens, especially on the same level as their litter box. One of my buns also couldn’t have hay accessible unless she was sitting inside the box.
The general advice (once medical issues are ruled out, as you have), is to confine to…[Read more]

I’m sorry for your loss. I agree with Bam, it’s difficult to know what happened. Since he is so young though, it would suggest there was something wrong with him. Perhaps he had a congenital defect of some sort.

I’m very sorry your bun died. It’s very difficult to guess what caused his death. I very much doubt it had to do with the fight he had with his brother.
Rabbits sometimes seize when they die. It doesn’t give any good clues about any particular cause of death. The rabbit disease RVHD can cause seizures, but many other things can too, for example e…[Read more]

Someone is selling little chopped up pieces of wood and I thought it would be fun for the bunnies to chew. They have elm and maple wood. Are these safe? I looked it up and it says they are but I wanna check with you guys.

Thank you for the kind words.
We did drag out every picture we could find. I found that the videos in particular of her were really great to watch.
Her favorite thing to do was throw things, so I have a handful of videos where she is flinging plastic hangers. 😆
It really helps to have a place to vent it all out. I’ve mainly lurked on…[Read more]

Sounds like things are moving too fast for Maya. How long did you do pre-bonding without any face to face bonding sessions?

Hi i am new to your groupe and i need your help. My female passed away in july, and my male found it very difficult so i went looking in rescues for a spayed female witch i found in august, but the bonding has been difficult. Jack, my male keeps getting attacked by maya, my female. I put maya in a pen since jack was already free roaming, i…[Read more]
