Can you describe your bun’s housing situation? How big is her enclosure, what is the flooring like, and how much exercise does she get?
If it is just at the callus stage, then making changes to her environment is the more important thing to do first. Since this has happened to more than one rabbit it sounds like there are issues with her…[Read more]

How bad is it? A callus or a sore? Calluses are not uncommon.

Sorry, I didn’t make it back to this thread. Thanks Dana! And yes, definitely looks like a failed pregnancy. Dana gave good advice.

How many buns are there total? Sorry I might have lost track! I was thinking you went from 3 to 2, but maybe it was from 4 to three?
Looking back at the original post, am I correct that the overgrooming started when one of the group passed away? How long ago was that? Loss of one rabbit from a group can definitely change the dynamics a bit,…[Read more]

Perhaps the alfalfa hay bits will be more attractive when you’re able to get some — as your vet mentioned, it is definitely known that some older rabbits or ill rabbits will transition to some alfalfa diet to help w/ weight.
Also, have you tried drying CC and providing those to help w/ the feedings? Essentially just make up CC, thicker, and…[Read more]

Hi all,
Today Benjamin’s doctor who did his surgery called to see how things are going. I told him about the soft poops and messy overnight poops as well as the weight problems. We decided that we’ll do a fecal culture 7-10 days after Benjamin’s last antibiotic dose. He said it wouldn’t affect the test results much if I continued the benebac, but…[Read more]

Thank you for reminding me; YoungBun LOVES palm leaf bowl/plates! They disappear fast so it’s like 5 mins of very loud entertainment 😆 She has mats and sticks but no go unless it’s outside in the toy box, just like she doesn’t care for books I give her but will happily take one off the shelf…
They do not have the strongest relationship but…[Read more]

USB nibbling! LOL She sounds a bit like my Cooper, he can be very needy and high energy! And yes a great appetite for hay is awesome.
You may be onto something with the boredom idea. Maybe she would like some enrichment toys stuffed with dif types of hay to keep thing interesting to her. It could be worth experimenting a bit with toys. All of my…[Read more]

If the skin is intact you dont need to clean them or put on ointment (unless of course if her feet are extremely dirty. Creams and ointments make the surrounding fur sticky and less protective, so they are best avoided as long as you’re only dealing with calluses, not actual sores. Foot baths soften the skin and you dont really want that if the…[Read more]

I don’t think YoungBun is stressed but I can see that she might be bored. She is still very high energy, extremely curious, binkys all the time, and if you don’t pay attention she’ll magically appear on a countertop or something. They have two stuffies that are completely ignored. She has never overgroomed/aggressively groomed herself and this…[Read more]

Have you asked regular pet grooming places? Some places can do / have experience with bunny nails even though they don’t advertise. Just make sure to check their prior experience first.

I got my bunny out of her cage to clean it and give her some free time the other day, since she loves being held I looked at her feet and noticed she has the beginning of sore hocks. I clean her every week and I put a yoga mat on the bottom of her cage to trying to prevent this from happening. I’m working on getting her in to see a vet in the next…[Read more]
