I use hair buster the most but it really depends on fur type as I have a bun it doesn’t really work on.

Don’t forget low level methods like running damp hands through fur.

My young Lionhead has very long fine mane. She’s the first bun to ever get mats in my care – i.e. buns may come in with mats but after I get them cleaned up, it never happens again. This bun though, has had them a few times developing and hiding behind her ears, one on each side. Hay seems to be a huge contributor. I’ve been able to get them out…[Read more]

That’s tough! Maybe an immovable barrier like a piece of plywood would work?

If you haven’t done any car rides with them, those can also be really helpful to get past the fighting stage.

One other thing you can try in bonding sessions, is when they go into these head wars, pet them both and swap scents so they think the other rabbit is grooming…[Read more]

thank you both so much for the info. I really hope given time and rest she will regain her strength. I am glad to know that one week in without much change isn’t necessarily a sigh that it isn’t working. I had wondered if steroids were an option but it sounds like we aren’t really there. She gets around really well considering her situation. Thank…[Read more]

I keep a thick fleece pen liner covering the divider to try and give them a visual barrier they go under to see each other.   The nearest is the SPCA and they are not very open to such ideas.  There is a bunny rescue 4 hours away from me as the closest actual rescue.  But there is a lady who helps that rescue out with bunnies in my area, I hav…[Read more]

It sounds like it’s going ok, but maybe you just moved a bit too fast? With only a few days of pre-bonding and a few days of sessions they really haven’t had much time.

I think I would go back to following the method you used on the first date, and rather than marathoning, break up the sessions into shorter chunks for now. So start with a car…[Read more]

Hmm ok, you could try at least adding a visual barrier between the pens during the break, such as cardboard or a towel pinned up between the pens.

If there are any rescues in your area you may also reach out to them, they may let you bring them in and use one of their pens for bonding sessions.

I really like the fur buster comb! I also use a lint roller on some of my buns and do a lot of hand plucking for the buns that shed in big tufts.

    Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well and thanks in advance for answering my queries. I have two female rabbits-Cinnabun (Holland dwarf) and Leo (Holland Lop). Cinnabun is Eight months old and Leo is 1.3 years old. Both are spayed female rabbits around 2 months back and are well settled in the house in two different rooms. Cinnabun had a…[Read more]

Thank you so much. I apologise it’s been so long since I stopped by the forum, life is pretty busy these days.

Unfortunately we didn’t hear back on Luna’s test results today, so I have to try to keep myself sane until tomorrow morning.

Trying to remind myself that if she makes it through surgery, she’ll be so much more comfortable without that eye.

The intros are done in a fully neutral area, that gets deodorized each time so each time I do an intro the space doesn’t smell like either of them.   I have considered giving them a full break but unfortunately, I have nowhere I can house them where they couldn’t see/hear or smell each other.  the only relatives I have in town are my in-laws an…[Read more]

Yes, they had a full vet checkup twice this year. Blood work, the whole nine yards and I’m $500. poorer and have two very healthy all be it slightly fat bunnies.   And I’m not sure how much closer I can monitor given I’m hovering over them the entire time during these new introductions.  But these two can and do go from a normal expected in…[Read more]
