Cosette started the topic Melrose in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 5 years, 9 months ago
My baby boy, Melrose, died last week at eight years old. I chose to have him pass away by humane euthanasia at the vet since his quality of life was deteriorating rapidly with illness and age-related complications. I know logically that I made the right choice, but I am beyond heartbroken to lose him, and I worry that he would feel betrayed that I…[Read more]

Sorry, it was late when I initially replied. The others saw what I was getting at though. If you’re in his space when it happens, then this could be interpreted as territorial behavior. However, if he approaches you outside of his enclosure and nips you, then it’s probably more attention seeking. Or, as Bam said, it can mean “move”.
When doing…[Read more]

I agree, an x-pen would be preferable. A dog crate or NIC condo would make a good “home base” and can be used for temporary confinement if necessary.

LBJ10 replied to the topic Be VERY CAREFUll with small plastic ball toys for any rabbit in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 9 months ago
Hard plastic toys such as baby keys or stacking cups are generally considered safe. But I would recommend avoiding things with small holes, like a “wiffle ball” type toy. I could see an accident like this happening if the holes are small enough for their incisors to get stuck in. You were smart to get rid of the toy. You don’t want something like…[Read more]

We just adopted another rabbit as Gemy our family member of 10 years had passed away 6 months ago.
It was very hard on us but we are now ready to adopt again and we did.
Gemmy had some toys but wasn’t much of a toy playing bunny.
Skippy is a mini about a year old and we have had him for a few days and picked up some toys for him.
He is doing…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic New rabbit keeps nipping my pants… in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 9 months ago
Nipping often means “Move, you are in my way” or “Pet me”. It is about communication. Some buns will nip if you stop petting them sooner than they find acceptable. Since bunny nipping has evolved among rabbits, they are more painful to us hooms than they would be if the nipped individual were a bun with a thick layer of protective fur.
In order…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic spayed female HATES new baby female rabbit in the forum BONDING 5 years, 9 months ago
Yes I agree with Hazel. It seems like you got pretty lucky with your first pair in that your male is mellow enough to be unneutered and still get along with your female. But the presence of the new un-altered bun is likely to continue to create some problems. Until she is spayed (and your boy is neutered) you should move her so she’s not right…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Bunny peeing outside of cage in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 9 months ago
It’s hard with babies! Do you have plans to get her spayed? That should help a lot.
If she is always peeing in the same spot, she might do better with another litter box in that spot. Or even a puppy pee pad if a box doesn’t make sense in that area (like if it’s in the middle of the room). If the room is large she might not be inclined to go all…[Read more]

Hi All,
Our bunny Tig, who is 3 months old, does not have the best litter box habits.
We recently purchased a couple X Pens to give Tig some more space to run around when we aren’t able to fully supervise her. She poops out in our living room all the time (usually all in one or two spots) and has also been peeing in the same spot each time. W…[Read more]

I agree with the others. You might also look into using NIC cubes to build a pen or condo. They are my person favorite. 🙂 There are a lot of really elaborate ones you can build if you search online, but here is an example of a really simple one: http://www.bunssb.org/bunnies/perfect-cheap-bunny-cage/
