It does sound like progress is slowly being made! I think it could be worth trying the banana on the head trick at this point, I did have another pair that needed the banana to “break the seal” with grooming, and then after that they start grooming each other without the banana. 🙂
Does your male ever request grooming from her? Grooming isn’t…[Read more]

Thanks! Female bun tries to hang out with him and requests grooms multiple times a day but male bun is really not interested. He mostly turns his head up and ignores her when this happens. If she’s too much in his space with the request he will give a gentle nip. I do not interfere in these happenings. (I hover and pretend I’m not watching, or…[Read more]

It’s so hard watching our bunnies age and their bodies beginning to fail them. It’s hard with any animal, really. I agree though. Although they are not the same, it doesn’t mean you can’t make them comfortable and they can continue on in whatever way the are able. I hope the vet can offer some new ideas on things that might help him. Unfortunately…[Read more]

Sorry it took a while for someone to reply to this, I thought I had already but it must not have gone through!
Some rabbits do take a long time to warm up, and they are all different personalities so there will be variability in how much interaction they want from you.
Since he will take a treat from you, perhaps you can do even more hand…[Read more]

Some rabbits are extra skittish. There’s a hereditary component to this. Rabbits as a rule mellow with age though. It can take a long time, but most rabbits -especially males it seems -do eventually figure out that it really is rather nice to get the odd head scritches and ear rubs. It will always be the rabbit that decides when, though. And when…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic revolution in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 2 years ago
Revolution is very safe and that dosage is appropriate. You do want to place it so they can’t immediately groom it off. I apply it to my buns right at the base of their skull/top of the neck, sometimes if you go towards the base of the neck they can partially groom the area. If you have a bonded pair you should separate them until it dries so they…[Read more]

I recommend letting him come to you, I have had the same problem with my rabbit so I let him approach me. Some rabbits are just more shy than others. Although you may feel that it is you it’s not, and rabbits are natural prey animals. Hope this helps 🙂

The safety of Revolution has not been assessed following accidental oral ingestion, as well an experiment was conducted and here is the result “No adverse effects were observed when Revolution was applied at 10 times the recommended dose and in pregnant and lactating females, breeding males and females.” Please always remember that all rabbits a…[Read more]

I found a flea on my bun and her vet told me to get this. I just wanted to see if anyone here has used it and if it had any side effects or anything like that? is it safe if she ingests it? I’ve had some bad experiences with other vets so I just like to double check things like this. my rabbit is 4.4 pounds and a lionhead. TIA!

I’m glad you could get him seen!
I had an elder-bun that I had to supplement with daily CC, because he couldnt keep weight on otherwise. He wouldn’t eat it from a plate but he took it quite willingly from a syringe -he came hopping when he heard me prep his daily CC in the kitchen 🥰 He was tiny (ge was never a big rabbit), but he had good energy…[Read more]

So, to really consider them bonded I would wait to see positive behaviors between them, including grooming each other, cuddling, and sharing the litter box without incident. From what you describe it doesn’t sound like they are quite there yet so I would keep supervising them. Sometimes they can get stuck in the tolerance phase where they aren’t…[Read more]

It is so so hard watching the gradual decline. 🙁 Hopefully your vet can help make him more comfortable and he will still have a long time left! Fresno is very lucky to have you!

🙁 I know multiple people have told me it’s very likely old age-related problems that are just manageable but I was really hoping it was something I could fix. I’ve got two super senior buns (assuming that is what’s going on with Fresno) and even Nora is 6-7 years old now. Quincy is at least 9 years old. Makes me really emotional.
I’ll update…[Read more]

He did alright Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday as well as today so far. He wasn’t drooling for long, maybe a few hours on Saturday and since then his chin has been dry. The vet looked at his teeth and they are growing points but not severe enough to put him under anesthesia and grind them down.
today he weighs 4.10lbs, the lowest yet. I’m terrified…[Read more]

My senior bunny would have sneezing fits around his hay. I found that keeping him in the bathroom with me during a steamy shower for 5-10 minutes every few days really cut back on the sneezing 🙂

mia replied to the topic Advice on bonding a trio in the forum BONDING 2 years ago
I would bond the younger two first and then introduce the older one. I would also make sure that bond is solid before introducing the 3rd. The 3rd would not need 1-on-1 with the younger ones unless there’s majors problems. At least with all my trios, this method only makes me have to deal with two potential fighters, never a 3-way fight; I only…[Read more]

Thank you for the validation, DanaNM! Once she ate the cilantro with the gas drops on it, I felt much better and it seems she feels better, too. No extra pellets, though she may have been eating more than her fair share, and the only “treats” they get are half a Oxbow digestive cookie but I did give them more than usual since their eating habits…[Read more]
