Bonded buns will be very comfortable with each other, with no tension when one comes near the other. Bonded buns will share food no problem (including yanking it out of each other’s mouths!), usually share litter box, will snuggle, and groom each other. Sometimes the grooming is a bit one sided but usually gets more equal over time. Overall there…[Read more]

Glad it was helpful to both of you! I’ve described that process to people a bunch so I decided to finally film it! Even with bunnies that run and hate being picked up, we try very hard not to chase them. Usually if you wait a bit they will settle and allow you to approach. Approaching from the side also helps. When I have more time I will usually…[Read more]

That is true! And the rule only applies to thoroughbred race horses:

My Vilde’s birthday is October 30, but he has kindly let me know that he is not opposed to having more birthdays per year, if more cake is involved.

Thank you for your very kind words — and you sound like a truly wonderful bunny mom too!! 🙂 And a foster mom at that — you are awesome! 🙂 It’s such great news that Lenn has already been adopted. Good work!
Haha, thanks! The “stunt double” is a trick from bunny bonding, but it could be worth a try with humans too. (Folks on here sugge…[Read more]

I always thought that was August 1st. Maybe southern hemisphere horses have different bd? 😄

To clarify, are you asking if he needs a litterbox when he is outside?
It wouldn’t hurt, but my assumption is you wouldn’t mind if he pooped and peed in the outdoor area. If he is litterbox trained, he might feel more comfortable or would more readily use the bathroom outside if the litterbox was there. If it wasn’t there, he might hold it in,…[Read more]

I’m not sure, but my Google searches suggest this product is currently unavailable in the United States. One website, which was an authorized dealer, said there were no plans for restocking. Another website said there were negotiations taking place. So… either there was a problem with it being sold in the United States, or perhaps there was a…[Read more]

When we go on holiday I take my indoor bunny with us. Space is cramped and its hot at our holiday space. I put Bunny in an outdoor run during the day which is safe, and he munches away happily on the grass, but does he need his dirtbox as hes toilet trained inside.

Not on Amazon. eBay has some, but it ships from UK.

What am I looking for to know my two are bonded? There’s still nipping and the occasional snuggle. Nova seems like she’s more dominant but she grooms Pekoe almost every time there is grooming.

Hi both,
Thanks for the thoughtful replies! My foster bun (Lenn) actually got adopted though, so I gave her up a few days ago! That being said, I already took in 2 new (bonded) foster buns and I think it’s probably likely I’ll encounter a similar skittish bun in the future, so your replies are still helpful 🙂 I agree that it’s definitely di…[Read more]

You can give her a massage and try to lift up her butt a little to help gas pass more easily. It is also often helpful if you can get her to move around a bit, because that too helps gas find its way out.
Simethicone gas drops are very good to have on hand, they can as a rule be found in the baby aisle in stores like Walmart, or if you are in the…[Read more]

I’ve always had a lot of luck with simethicone (baby gas drops). Some bunnies will have gas pain, but if you can relieve their discomfort then they will snap out of it and start eating again.

I wouldn’t give pineapple because the sugar can upset her tummy more if it’s gas. They have gas drops at pharmacies, if you can go to one (they are sold as baby gas drops).
You can give her a tummy rub for now. If it is gas only that sometimes is enough to help. Encouraging her to hop around a little can help too. Keep offering favorite wet…[Read more]
