Did Wick ever go a couple days or more without symptoms or minimal sneezing without discharge then start back up again with the thicker discharge and then go back to minimal symptoms? It’s like a yo-yo with her. Today she seems fine and her appt is this afternoon. I thought for sure by today she would be more than ready for the vet and it was t…[Read more]

Reglan can work pretty quickly. It’s a very good med that can be given every 6-8 hours if the situation calls for it.
Weirdly shaped poop, tiny poops, even splotchy, mushy poop with various degrees of stinkiness is more or less par for the course when the bunny gut starts up after a bout of gas or stasis. The fact that there is poop is what’s…[Read more]

I also recommend going to a rabbit-experienced vet as soon as possible. How are things going now?

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Question about URI versus Allergy symptoms in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 8 months ago
Tooth root issues can come from age and poor dental habits, but it can also be from unlucky genes that tell the teeth to grow in odd ways.
I only have experience with URI, and when I hear thick, white discharge, my mind tends to stick to that. I know in humans, allergy-related nasal discharge can be yellow, green, or clear, so it might probably…[Read more]

Pooping is great! That means the GI is running and tiny poop after a gastric discomfort is very normal, if you consider he wasn’t eating much during it.

I did give him more simethicone and a dose of reglan but he was eating within 10 minutes. I’m pretty sure the reglan hadn’t done anything but maybe the simethicone. He also was warmed up at that point. He’s pooping… tiny poops.

Well he’s eating cilantro now. Good grief. And a little poop. Something is most certainly going on but grateful that he’s eating something.

Well yesterday I was just going to post an update that frank was doing great and last night he didn’t eat again.
Back to teeth grinding, anorexia and social withdrawal. He was sitting in the sunroom this morning which is a favorite spot in the summer but not in the winter.
I’m so sad
He got pain meds and simethicone last night because he seem…[Read more]

Hi everyone. Binkie is feeling so much better today, and I haven’t seen her tummy pressing at all. Yesterday, I made her some bun mush (pellet paste) and syringe fed it to her. She didn’t like it, but at least it went well. I also syringe fed her some fluids, and some mint tea. She’s back to eating her hay & treats now, and running around which is…[Read more]

Hi everyone,
I currently have my two pairs set up in side-by-side runs in a room. Each pair has about 5′ X 10′ attached to a small NIC cube condo, and they have the whole space 24/7 generally except when I’m cleaning. This is all a temporary set up at my in-laws house. Everything has been going fine, except tonight Cooper realized he can jump…[Read more]

Not sure what’s going on, but it sounds very serious. You need to have him seen by a vet ASAP. Most vets (at least in my state) are doing “curbside” service so there is little to no covid risk for the humans, then they call you during the exam.

If someone out there could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. I’m not sure what to do at this point. I have a five year old mini lop rabbit named Bugsy. Something is wrong with his eyes, the fur is falling out around them in clumps and there’s flaky stuff in the fur. A few months ago I noticed the rims around his eyes were red, so…[Read more]

So sorry again for your loss of Alfalfa. 🙁
It is very normal for rabbits to lose litter box habits and be on alert when a strange bunny (especially an un-neutered one) comes into their territory, but this all usually settles down once they are bonded. Most rabbits do seem happier with a friend, but by all means wait until you are ready and want…[Read more]

No, her face isn’t smooshed. She does have lop ears, but not the flat face. More pointy type face. She’s almost 6 months old…wouldn’t that be a little too young for tooth root issues?
The sneezing doesn’t worry me as much unless it’s the harsh sneezing with the thick discharge which comes and goes. Sometimes she will sneeze and I’m not concern…[Read more]

Speaking from experience (not allergies, but tooth root problems), sneezing that is consistent means there may be an active infection. Sneezing that comes and goes… maybe, but it’s less likely. Over time, you just learn to recognize the difference between “normal” sneezing and possible URI sneezing. Of course, this is assuming that a vet has…[Read more]

Snacks replied to the topic VENT: Trying to convince someone NOT to get a bunny in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 8 months ago
I have had a good amount of conversations with people about why a bunny might not be for them. Generally I bring up exactly how much care is required. And… We’re bunny people… we handle poop. A LOT. Like… most people don’t understand how much poop we deal with…
The property damage angle is a good one too. The ‘Electric Hay’ can get…[Read more]
