The can be dramatic, that’s for sure! It’s especially hard when you’re always the “bad guy”. It seems it’s always one person who does the picking up, trimming nails, grooming, giving meds, etc…. and then there is the person that is just the bringer of treats and other good things for some reason. ๐Ÿ˜

So, I have been on the receiving end of a full blown bunny grudge this week. Oh, the tiny anger!

We are working on bonding Arthas and Georgia. The other day, I decided to put them in a large carrier and bring them in the kitchen with me for a date while I was doing some housework. The date itself went pretty well, but going inย  the carrier means…[Read more]

Things seem to have settled now. Seems like it was a case of spring fever that has passed! Strange, Glenn is 8 now and I’ve never noticed this kind of seasonally driven behaviour so it is weird that it can just spontaneously happen after all these years. It reached its peak a few days after this topic was created and I actually needed to seperate…[Read more]

I was thinking something similar to LBJ – if you could line the cushion with something soft, yet disposable, you could maybe just toss the cloth when it gets icky or when he gets up to eat. Maybe cut pieces of fleece or a bed sheet? I know paper towels would be too rough on his little bum.

When I have had to do butt baths in the past, I did them…[Read more]

Yeah… I had this problem. Is it possible to line the cushion with something? Like faux sheepskin?

As for poopy butt cleaning, I would place a towel on the bottom of the bathtub and use the handheld shower head (turned down) to just get his rear wet. I would support his front half with one hand and his feet would be on the towel. Then I would…[Read more]

This is about my elderbun / end-of-life / illness

So I’ve done butt baths for other buns but problem is not a large area to really do butt baths. Basically he’s getting poopy butt every two days or so. He gets meds 2x/day so I check every time. The problem is, it dries up and sticks (maybe worse because there’s a heat lamp). The last time it…[Read more]

They are a bit better after their supervised overnight, I ended up putting a pen grate in between them while I slept as Glenn was a bit too relentless and Nellie needed a break, she was avoiding him anyway. After taking the grate away this morning they are cuddling! perhaps they missed eachother!

Thanks for the replies and advices everyone!

I will try a surrogate, he has some very old smaller stuffies but perhaps something new will catch his eye a bit more! I haven’t noticed that it’s happening to any specific area… Although this is hard to tell really as it kind of happens anywhere around their room, nothing particularly new around but…[Read more]

It seems a lot of the fleece they carried was exclusive to Joann. Not sure if it will be available online somewhere or not. I did end up buying a bunch of clearance fleece since that was 60% off. Unfortunately, the regular fleece was more expensive than it typically was because… liquidator company. I may go back once the prices have gone down…[Read more]

I had heard that about Joann stores ๐Ÿ™

I wonder if you could find out who their supplier is?
there would also probably be an online market place that may take on all their excess stock and sell in bulk.. maybe an opportunity to buy some extra to keep aside? Sounds like you have a destro-bun on your hands these days! 😄

Sheets do sound like an…[Read more]

I had a dog with joint problems/arthrosis (GSD, they’re prone). The only things that helped were daily NSAIDs (meloxicam is the go-to for buns), gabapentin as needed, laser treatment and exercise on flat but not hard surfaces (no jumping!).

Nowadays LED light therapy could be a comparatively affordable option for at-home therapy. I think…[Read more]

“March hare syndrome” is what first comes to mind for me too. Even long time neutered buns get hormonal this time of year. It’s not only about sex hormones, the rapid increase in daylight that occurs near the spring equinox affects the sleep/wake cycle and other things as well. It affects humans too, but to a lesser extent bc we can apply reason.…[Read more]

    Hey!

I’ve noticed that sometimes changes in environment can cause a day or two of grumpy, humpy behavior in our otherwise chill and loving bonded pair Napoleon and Rocky.

It can be something as simple as I’ve cleaned in the computer room (where they live) and they don’t like where I’ve moved something or perhaps one of the cats ran in for 5…[Read more]

I have tried the oxbow joint support with my girl with arthritis, I tried for a month and saw no difference. She was since prescribed Loxicom daily pain relief, she showed some improvement, I decided to reintroduce oxbox joint support and after about another 4-6 week we noticed she was even more springy than before! It’s hard to say if the joint…[Read more]

Glad to hear Nellie is better!

Changing seasons can trigger hormonal behaviors in bunnies, even ones that are spayed/neutered (they still have their adrenal glands). That being said, if this doesn’t resolve soon, I would suggest looking into other causes. Bunnies have been known to hump when they are experience discomfort in their bladder, for…[Read more]
