Dandelions1234 started the topic Kidney stone in one kidney – advice in the forum DIET & CARE 2 years, 1 month ago
Hello everybun! We are so confused at the moment. We have been in and out of the vets with one of our bunnies Earl Grey over the last few weeks. After some bloods, which came back completely normal, and a x-ray, our vet says she sees a kidney stone in one of his kidneys. One vet says to leave the kidney with the stone in there, and to keep our…[Read more]

Hi, I’m new to this page found it whilst looking at things similar to my rabbit who passed away yesterday and looking for support because I’m absolutely heartbroken. I got 2 rabbits nearly 2 years brothers and not much was known about them from the previous owners just that they were around 9 months old and the vets told me they were netherland…[Read more]

Thank you! Yes he seems to be quite sleepy and a little more uncoordinated on it. However, he did start eating some more hay a few times this afternoon and began drinking on his own! I am still giving him critical care every 6 hours and massaging his belly. But it seems like his appetite is coming back which is great. Now it’s just the leg. I…[Read more]

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with giving rabbits local hay. I have a 3 year old Netherland dwarf rabbit (he is kept alone but he gets plenty of attention and the vet in my area said Netherland dwarfs tend to be happy alone) and I recently switched him to local hay. I have horses so I just use the grass mix hay…[Read more]

Anyone have suggestions on an air purifier? I’ve read quite a few reviews and it seems there are a variety of good ones (BlueAir 411, Dyson Hot/Cool, Honeywell) and some over-hyped poor quality (Molekule) but was wondering if anyone could provide input. I live in an 800 sq foot apartment and my budget is $150-250, although I’ve contemplated spl…[Read more]

Oh good!
Gabapentin is for nerve pain and meloxicam for pain and inflammation, so that’s great! He might get very sleepy from the gabapentin, thats a common side effect. That could be good for him in this phase of acute injury though.
It is obviously important that he eats, so you have to keep hand feeding him until he gets his appetite back.…[Read more]

Thank you for the information! That’s kinda what the vet is thinking. That it’s some sort of pinched nerve or muscular issue that happened. They prescribed him gabapentin every 8-12 hours and then meloxicam every 12 hours for the next 5 days. If he seems like he needs longer pain control, they will have me give it longer. They kinda just said it’…[Read more]

If there is no steuctural damage (slipped disc, fractured vertebrae, partially torn ligament), chances are this is muscular.Muscles in the back can contract very firmly when a person or animal takes a fall or slips or lands badly. This is a protective reflex- the body tries to protect the spine bc the spine is so very important. The problem that…[Read more]

See how your bun does on it. Mines hate it so I’ve had to keep mixing tiny amount with other pellets until the bag is gone

Update: he had different position X-rays done and they see nothing wrong with his discs. They are saying possible pinched nerve. Has anyone dealt with that before?

That’s what I thought too. She decided it would be best for her to put her down. She is doing very bad and she doesn’t want to put her through any more stress.

The vet and the exotic rabbit savvy vet checked him over and felt nothing out of place. They checked his hip for any luxation and his spine for anything out of the ordinary or swelling. They couldn’t find anything but the rabbit savvy vet said that they could see maybe the smallest of shift in a disc in his lower back that could be the issue of t…[Read more]

Looks like a keratinized papilloma from the photo, but it’s hard to tell. If it is a papilloma, the vet could remove it. Or it could go away on its own. Definitely have a vet take a look to make sure though. Like I said, it’s very hard to tell from the photo… plus we aren’t vets.

So the vet didn’t think it was “anything”? I find that odd. I mean, it could be a soft tissue injury. Did the vet check to make sure the joints weren’t slipping?
If he doesn’t eat, then you will need to hand feed him Critical Care or another recovery food to get him through. Does he have a regular, more rabbit savvy vet?
