Luvmybun started the topic Is this normal poop? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 8 months ago

I’ve had my rabbit for about 3 months now. She is a free roamer and has unlimited hay and gets fed veggies twice a day. Normally her poop looks like the poop on the left but upon checking her litter box this morning I noticed pellets on the right. They are a tad smaller and darker. Should I be worried? She is still eating and drinking water.

Thanks for the suggestions.
It’s a basic Midwest 36” high pen with door. There nothing blocking her view at all where we’ve placed it, so she can see us quite well. Blocking her view is a good idea and makes sense. I have plenty of cardboard she can shred up too. She did better this afternoon, but that’s when she normally takes a very long nap.

Thanks for the responses guys!! Seems like I’m not alone LOL!
DanaNM I’ll look at some videos! Thanks. 😀 I’m sure I could get plenty of fur off my cats too lol! And yes this is why I shared it with fellow bunny people! Safe space. 💜
@kanin I found some that look like they do a nice job of recreating pets in needle felt, not plushies yet. I was…[Read more]

LBJ10 replied to the topic how to encourage eating hay stems in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 8 months ago
Star grass? Is that similar to Bermuda grass? Yeah, not the most palatable.
I saw somewhere that orchard grass is called cocksfoot in Australia… no clue if that’s true or not. Anyway, perhaps orchard grass is just called something else there?

How big is the pen? Can she see you walking around, etc. when she’s in it? I agree with the others that blocking her view might calm her down at bit.

the poops are gone so I’m thinking she maybe ate them?? they weren’t cecotropes, or at least didn’t look like them because they were larger than the ones I’ve seen and smooth, but they were the same color and texture.

Thanks so much for helping me. To be honest as I was writing my post and looking at my poor wee bunny I just thought this is crazy, you know it’s his teeth, ring the vet and so I am just back from the vet (his 4th visit since summer 2020, 4 different vets have seen him from the same practice). Today I got a lovely vet who has had lots of…[Read more]

Louiethebunny replied to the topic Possible new rabbit, date w/ current rabbit? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 8 months ago
I took Louie to a bunny date to meet Lola, and the drive was about 30-45 minutes, but I had been working with him the past couple weeks getting him used to drives and such so he wouldn’t be too stressed on longer drives. In the end it was great and Lola ended up being a match, but I would definitely consider how your bunny reacts to the car and such.

It is def too soon to give her more space, unfortunately. Spaying is so invasive that they really do need the full time to heal.
I agree that blocking her view with some towels or cardboard may help a lot. Spending time with her inside her pen might also help. Cardboard, seagrass mats, and newspaper are all really good for frustrated bunnies to…[Read more]

How long will you be away on your trip?
As long as your husband will take care of his feeding and litter box, etc, I think that would be a lot less stressful on the bun.

I rescued a bun. I work from home and he is with me basically all day because he free roams in our house.
Over the holiday we went to a cabin house about three hours away and he was in the car for about 3.5 hours traveling. He did fine. We stopped once and he sprawled out and ate some hay. I am traveling to be with my mom for her 60th birthday,…[Read more]
