I have measured how much I forage for my buns. I pick leaves (apple, willow and hazel mostly), dandelion, goutweed, chickweed, yarrow, wild growing chicory etc and dry them on a food dehydrator. I dry them thoroughly, or else they will spoil. I store the dried leaves in plastic bags.

I think it would also be beneficial to start introducing veggies to her at this point. Of course do this very slowly as you don’t want to upset her stomach. Start by maybe giving her a 1/4 of a romaine leaf and then see how her stomach reacts. Watch her poop and if it’s a lot different then give her a smaller piece. Make sure you take you time and…[Read more]

Everytime they have told me it’s bacteria. I did make another appointment today and will ask them to check for yeast…is it something they would’ve caught doing cultures or viewing it on a slide?
she did not tell me what kind of tumor. She said she couldn’t even confirm it because his ear canal was so inflamed. I can tell swelling has gone…[Read more]

That’s true, she’s definitely been a little more friendly and active since I’ve gotten her spayed. After she healed she started to come out of her cage a lot more. She’s also been let scared to come toward me as long as I stay semi still. Still not aloud to pet her often but hopefully that’ll come one day.

If she wasn’t spayed until just recently, that may have played a role. Perhaps she will start coming out of her shell more now?

LBJ10 replied to the topic What breed is he? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago
Insurance companies need to know what breed your rabbit is? That’s weird. Haha! There are lots of people that have no clue what breed or breeds their bunny is because mixes are so common. I was just guessing based on your bunny’s size and appearance. But I suppose my guess is as good as any!

Dark poop isn’t “bad” necessarily. Since your rabbits are young and eating an alfalfa-based diet, dark poops are to be expected.

It could be that his ear canal is shaped in a way that makes him prone to ear infections. If he was younger, you may have been able to consider an ear canal ablation. Some members have done this and had good luck with it.
If there is a tumor present, I suppose that could cause stuff to get stuck in there and create a breeding ground for bacteria.…[Read more]

tobyluv replied to the topic quality online hay source? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 7 months ago
My bunnies really like American Pet Timothy Gold Hay. It’s a second cutting of Timothy and has always been fresh and fragrant. It’s sold at Petco, online and in the stores. They have a 24 ounce bag, which is the size I buy. They also sell it online in a larger size. Oxbow orchard grass hay is a good, softer hay too. It’s sold online at Petco…[Read more]

In fall, we normally gather leaves and grass for our little critters. They do appreciate it!
How much would you suggest for a 5 pound bunny?

Hi everyone. First time bunny mom! I was just told that dark bunny poop is bad? That’s all my baby bunnies poop. They poop regularly, drink plenty of water, eat alfalfa hay, and allotted pellets. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for any advice!

Hi.
I have a male 8/9 year old lop mix rabbit named Mocha. I adopted him at 2/3 years old and since then he has suffered from ear infections 2-4 times a year.
typically we do a course of antibiotics and he’s good to go after 14-30 days.
currently he has had an ear infection since June. We started with packing his ear an Otic pack for two we…[Read more]

Ya, I have wanted another bunny to put with Nala for a long time now. She seems to only like other animals and isn’t the biggest fan of humans. I think I will be able to change their minds so hopefully that will help. I will definitely try to find some DIYs to keep my bun busy.

Interesting and seems accurate! Mine both definitely are eating/ drinking/ and subsequently going to the bathroom more so I’m glad they aren’t the opposite. It’s funny you mention hormones because I have said they are acting like they have spring fever. Generally “odd” moods (sometimes grumpy), and my male has been trying to mount the female…[Read more]

Good luck with trying tunnels and other things! There are lots of DIY ideas online and YouTube.
That’s a tough one, the reason I got 2 was because after reading so much about how they are happier in pairs (when I got mine I had no idea how social they were), I felt determined to make it happen. If you’re living with parents they’d really need to…[Read more]
