I’d just keep it clean and put a little Neosporin on it, if you think she won’t lick it off.

I had a Persian with skin like tissue paper.  Nicked her quite a few times.  One time it was pretty big and I used super glue, but no idea if that is safe for a rabbit.

Hello, I have an angora rabbit who HATES razors, trimmers, anything with a noise. I keep her top coat maintained and trip and small knots normally and just give her a horrible botched haircut when it gets too long and she is fine. I was trimming her stomach and I got too close to her armpit area and snipped some skin off. It did not bleed and I…[Read more]

Thank you for the advice. He’s fully recovered now but I will let my sister know.

Thank you! There isn’t much alfalfa in this hay and he seems to like it a lot. He’s already gaining weight back since I upped his food when I noticed. I’ve been watching him closely to make sure he isn’t showing any more symptoms but he seems to be doing fine.

No personal experience with rabbit kidney stones. But I will comment on the fact that kidney stones are not that uncommon in all types of animals and people. Oftentimes, there are no symptoms. Unless the kidney stone is ridiculously large, then I don’t see why you would remove the kidney.

Can you give us more information? What has been causing…[Read more]

Thanks for the reply. I had them both neutered and vaccinated last summer not sure whether RVHD2 was included but Steve is due in April for his vaccines again so I’ll ask about it then.

A phone book sounds like a good idea! I think I still have a couple.

I have a cardboard cat house (😬 house intended for actual cats) that has a replaceable cardboard cat scratching board as a floor. My destructo bun loves getting in there to destroy. (*I’m sorry, Snöa! Bunstructo! I know the proper term is bunstructo!)

    (*Snöa is my bun’s name.)

Just keep covering until the whole floor is covered (serious :/). Other things are only extremely short term distractions. Can also buy them their own couch.

Metacam comes in 2 strenghts, 0.5 mg/ml for cats and 1.5 mg/ ml for dogs. Rabbits as a rule get dog strenght metacam, but even if your bun gets dog strenght metacam and she is a tiny bun, 0.25 ml per day would be the lowest recommended dose. You calculate the dose like this:

    1.5 mg/ml strenght × 0.25 ml = 0.375 mg

0.375 mg divided by your bun’s…[Read more]

Some excitement this morning when I weighed Luna. Back before she had E.c her healthy weight was around 2.4kg, after E.c her healthy weight was 1.9kg, when we started her steroid eye drops last year her weight dropped again to 1.65kg. This morning after 8 days off of the steroid drops her weight was 1.85kg!! A huge achievement for Luna. Fingers…[Read more]

The RVHD2 virus has-tragically- been running rampant in the UK since at least 2016. It is very important to vaccinate against it yearly. Here is some info from the RWAF:

I’m very sorry you lost Dustin. It is traumatic to lose a rabbit regardless of the cause, but it’s worse when…[Read more]

No, it doesn’t say. I tried calling the original vet again because I’m curious now if they are under dosing her. Couldn’t get through on the phone. I’ll update when I find out. Thank you for all the info.

I live in England haven’t heard about that virus but I guess it sounds similar in ways he didn’t show any symptoms no changes in behaviour. Had the vets check over Steve today and he’s completely healthy thankfully. He’s staying inside for the next few weeks before we get him a friend. Thank you for the reply.

The best solution for me has been to put heavy ceramic tiles over the trouble spots, and then provide a grass matt or cardboard cat scratcher nearby for them to focus on instead. Phone books are also good for that urge to shred and dig if you can find one!  You can also try providing a digging box, but often these turn into litter boxes 😆
