I was going to suggest blood test, with as frequently as she has the episode I would be a little concerned about an ulcer. I had a bunny who kept getting gi stasis no explanation, turned out it was a gastric ulcer.
As to the spurs was she put under for it? In my experience the only way to really tell is a sedated exam and if you are going to do…[Read more]

frankie3000 started the topic Remembering my handsome Frankie in the forum RAINBOW BRIDGE 5 years, 7 months ago
Late last night I finally put my Frankie to rest. He was a couple months over 10 years old! He’d been blind for several years but over the last 6 months his cataracts had developed into glaucoma and he developed dental disease. My vet was helping with pain management and treating the dental disease as it came up, but yesterday he suddenly seemed…[Read more]

Peter'sOwner replied to the topic my rabbit is suddenly aggressive and biting in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 7 months ago
I think we have figured out the behavior still not sure what to do about it though. It seems that Peter likes to pick items he likes to decorate his sleeping spots and even if it seems like a piece of trash he gets angry if you take it away or touch it.

Thank you both for the advice and I really needed the insight about what might be going through Clover’s head when she does that. After a lot of this it definitely gets easier to put it on her but he’s in the relationship too. And he’s very nice with her and has been for 6 months, but he used to be aggressive towards her so I should be more kind…[Read more]

Yes we need to start spreading proper rabbit care to everyone. Just two days ago I got a rabbit and they kept 5 baby bunnies in a small dog kennel outside with just a tarp over it while there was a blizzard happening it was crazy. I hate seeing situations like that.

So sorry this is happening.
I would get the spurs fixed as DanaNM recommended. However I wonder if she got them because she has not been eating properly…If you don’t do it already, I’d consider a good cold press pellet diet. I heard multiple times that it helps bunnies that are prone to GI stasis. When I swapped my buns to cold press pellets I…[Read more]

Thanks!
@Susanne – we did sleep with the bathroom door open (but blocked for the buns), and it actually went super well! We didn’t haven’t to break up any fights at all, only occasionally stepped in to stop Theo from mounting because it was getting a little much for Alfredo. He’s still chasing Alfredo a lot but Alfredo is just running, no more…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Cat or Rabbits? (Comparison) in the forum THE LOUNGE 5 years, 7 months ago
Wick gave a pretty good run down! I have a cat and bunnies. Just like bunnies, all cats have different personalities, but as a rule cats are more cuddling (in terms of wanting to be on your lap). But my cat also is probably just using me for body heat. 😉
My feeling is that bunnies are more work than a cat, but still less than a dog. Some other…[Read more]

Thanks! We are planning to stop at motels along the way. Apparently La Quinta Inn’s are pet friendly? So I think the plan is to drive for a full day each day, then rest for the evenings. I’ve been told the best way is just to put the buns in the bathroom so they can hop around a bit and not damage anything. Hoping we could make the trip in about 5…[Read more]

It’s possible they are all getting a touch of arthritis, even if it seems like they are doing fine. I’ve also noticed my seniors can be a bit lazy about the box. At one point I got a cat tray that had a lower side and box usage did get a bit better again. Maybe adding some extra boxes would help too?
Can you tell if it’s all the bunnies, or just…[Read more]

I agree with Wick.
I would go to a rescue centre and try to find the best fit for you regardless breed or colour. Also, mix breeds usually have healthier lives than pure breeds.

Love a lot of what you mention @DanaNM!
I will note that adding structures into a bonding space, whether it’s a tunnel, litterbox, etc. can arouse some territorial aggression, so just be on guard for that if you add anything in that space.

Bam replied to the topic What veggies to feed, and how much? in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 7 months ago
Hi and welcome!
Here you can find info about veggetavles that are suitable for rabbits:
https://rabbit.org/suggested-vegetables-and-fruits-for-a-rabbit-diet/
Rabbits should be weaned on to vegetables slowly, from age 12 weeks at the earliest (unless they have had greens as babies). That means you start with one veg, for example romaine lettuce…[Read more]

Car rides can certainly help when you get stuck in a rut, so I would try that if you can.
What kind of space are you using? If it’s small and he’s bouncing around a lot, a much larger space might help. That way he could move away without it creating a commotion and stirring everyone up. Large spaces with tunnels and hides (with at least 2 exits)…[Read more]

If the vets say she has spurs, and she has symptoms (gut issues), I would file them and see if that helps since it seems like you have ruled out other possible causes?
Does she seems to improve with pain meds only? Or does she need motility meds?
Can you remind me what her treatment regimen is? There are some bunnies that need to be on…[Read more]

So sorry you were not feeling well. I hope you are better now. I agree with the others, I’m sure he doesn’t hate you and I would definitely do what pinkiemarie said if you can.
This is what it has worked for me:
My rabbit gets very scared with loud noises. If he is very terrified and needs hiding, I leave some herbs/treats next to him and try to…[Read more] - Load More
