Thanks for the info on bleach, I’ve read a lot of conflicting stuff about it degrading (or not!) and how sensitive septic tanks are to it. I don’t think we have any wild rabbits near us. I haven’t seen any around here in years so I suspect the RHD came in on footwear.

If he has eaten a little bit, including his cecotropes, it seems likely that he will start eating more. Does he have a hidey house in his cage? It’s a good sign that he ate when you sat with him. It may be good if you are in the same room as him, but without fussing over him. You could perhaps read a book or listen to music?

Backing into the room… Does it make me a crazy bunny person if I immediately thought to try crawling? 😀

I absolutely freaked out the first time my first bunny peed calcium because I thought it might be sludge too. He tends to still avoid doing it in the box if he has a lot of calcium to excrete. Maybe it’s a little uncomfortable? This looks like pretty normal bunny pee and he’s definitely in a low risk group!

Thank you for your reply! His diet is primarily alfalfa hay with about 1/4 cup of alfalfa pellets a day. He also gets a cup of fresh greens a day and small portions of fruit/other vegetables as a treat

When my rabbits shed, they seemed to get a bit more flaky during that time, so I agree with Bam, that it might have to do with the shed.   So if this clears up after the shed in a few weeks, then you’ll have your answer.   But it is something to keep an eye on.

It will look angry if it’s infected. Red, swollen, hot to the touch, etc. You can certainly clean up the area if you want to, although I’m sure Pinky already has. As for his belly, I’m not sure that means anything. That area would naturally be a bit tighter when stretched out.
